Bladder Weakness An unspoken concern for Women over 45

October 8, 2009 By Shelley Zurek

GUESS! What Common Problem do Women Suffer, More than Migranes and Allergies, but is Never Discussed?

Hmm?  It’s Bladder Weakness.

In a recent survey by TENA and Harris Interactive entitled “Bladder Talk,”  780 women, all over  35  from  North America, it was discovered that bladder weakness takes an emotional toll–the statistics will surprise you!
Even a more taboo subject than menopause, infertility or PMS, bladder weakness is often joked about but rarely discussed. It’s not necessary for women to be ashamed, silent suffering is not necessary either! There are ways to help women take control over a bladder weakness condition including  diet, life-style changes, and pelvic fitness exercises.

Significant Ways Women’s lives are affected by Bladder weakness:

· Women will talk about these sensitive topics before Bladder weakness: infertility(32 percent), Spousal relations (30 percent), personal mental health (23 percent) and (UGHHH!) menopause (15 percent)
·A Strong impact on their Lives was the rating that more that Half of the women (51 percent) in the survery gave to bladder weakness
·37 percent felt  their lives could be led differently if they didn’t have bladder weakness.
·20 percent of those surveyed indicate they worry  constantly about their bladder weakness problem, it controls their lives.
·28% plan trips around bathroom locations
·Nearly one fifth (18 percent) of the women had to change the they dress
·BUT a full 43 %  have never done anything to alleviate  their symptoms.
