Hate the New Facebook Lightbox Photo Viewer? Here’s how to Easily, Manually, Turn it Off!

New Facebook Lightbox Photo Viewer

I’m  not sure what it is, but it just looks like some kind of old movie screen or a piece of crappy black grade school construction paper.  A lot of people have mentioned to me they don’t care for it!  Something I noticed was that you can’t save images from this view either, I constantly am doing that!   You know what?  You don’t have to look at pictures this way.  Just refresh your screen.  WHAT?  Yes, just refresh your Screen!

Mozilla Firefox has a refresh button (all browsers do)  like the blue circle arrow above (see where the big red arrow is pointing), just click it and your page refreshes….and PRESTO CHANGO.. Your pictures will know look like this (the old photo view!)

Ahh, isn’t that so much better???  The bonus is that you can left click and “Save Image” from this view as well.  Also, if you are viewing an entire alblum–it stays in this view.  How convenient is that?  LOVE IT!

    I am constantly right clicking to save images. The new photo viewer having disable saving pics has ticked me right off. Just refresh? That’s brilliant! I hope this work around is permanent. Thanks for posting it.

      It’s my understanding that it will work in everything. The alternative is to go up into the URL box, delete the word “theater” at the end and then have it surf to that url and it will take you to the old photo viewer. See the article that I linked. It describes that option as well. But, what the hey, hit refresh and try it in Chrome!
