GOOGLE PAGERANK UPDATE FOR JUNE, 2011 MEANS NOTHING! BUT HOW DO YOU FEEL?

June 28, 2011 By Shelley Zurek

People always say,  “Provide Great Content and They will Come!  Don’t Pay Attention to Google PageRank!”

Still Blonde Google PageRank

I have so much to say about Google PageRank Update,  I just cannot begin to type.  But Women over 45, know that a  picture says a 1000 words doesn’t it?  This is how I felt yesterday, June 27, 2011 when the Google PageRank Update started to roll out: Women jumping off building! Now today, I feel more like this: Bozo the ClownYou remember BOZO, the Clown–Don’t you?  Well he personifies how I feel today after dropping from 3 to a 2…Like a Clown.  Now there isn’t anything wrong with a 2 unless you are dropping DOWN to it!  I know because when I was a Google PageRank 3 versus when I was a 2 it made a difference in the ads/opportunities/etc. that I was offered.  But you know what BOZO , the Clown says in his Theme song right?

Just keep Laughin’!  Don’t you ever Frown!  BOZO is Back…the one and only BOZO the Clown!

So that’s what the Blonde is going to do…”Just Keep Laughing” because as you know…I am the one and only Chief Blonde!  Teehee?

I know some of you were really pleased with your Google PageRank.  Congratulations!  I am thrilled for you (Really!) Some of you were not! (I shake my Fist in the Air for you!)

Update 2012: The Chief Blonde has once again been elevated to a PageRank 3!

For me, I can’t also understand how google set the page rank of every site…There are page ranks that drops down and some goes up…

Wow, I’m sorry to hear that yours dropped. I am among the ranks of those who were at a 0. I started my blog in 2009 but dropped it shortly after and just picked it back up again last August, I’ve been learning as much as I can between caring for all of the kids and life in general, trying to get a rank so companies are more inclined to let me review their products. I have been frustrated because all my work has been in vain, and I just sit at that 0, even after switching to my own domain, etc. Ya, the 2 made my heart leap a little, if only because maybe some sponsors will look at me without hysterical laughter or pitiful eye rolls. Still learning, still improving, and ultimately I will care more about my readers and blog community than what Google things 🙂

I just got my 1st page rank and I’m excited because it went from 0 to a 2!

I’m sorry. 🙁 I didn’t know what my PR was before google updated it but I imagine it was a 0, and now it’s a 2. I’m happy with a 2 though I’d love to move up. Wouldn’t we all? I think we all need to say screw you PR and start using everyone else. There are tons of other page rank sites out there, just not called the same thing.

I dropped a dress size too… down from a 4 to a 3. When I saw this post, I had a feeling it would go down.

Google does what it wants. Annoying, yes. But you can’t fight City Hall.

    Oh, YAY. I *F-I-N-A-L-L-Y* have a rank of 2 after sitting at 0 *F-O-R-E-V-E-R*.

Sorry you went down! Mine was a 2 when I decided to go to a .com, then it was stuck at 0. I only updated to 1, but it’s still better than 0! My other site went from 0 to 2.

Having jumped from around 600 followers to over 850 followers. Posting great giveaways, going from a couple of hundred to over 1,000 FB follower and almost 1,000 Twitter followers…I drop from 4 to 3.
I do not get this. I do not get this at all!

I went down as well. From a 3 to a 2. My mouth fell open. It sucks. I don’t even worry with it anymore though. I just tell them my MozRank instead. It is higher than Google and it covers more. Google sucks eggs!

  10. Stacey says

    June 28, 2011 at 10:14 pm

Yet another reason I wrote a post about MozRank over GPR at thislilpiglet.net/2011/06/move-over-google-page-rank-bring-on.html I went from 0 to 2 and had been stuck there for the entire time I was a blogger. Being a 2 is fabulous except considering so many factors, it’s a useless statistic. GPR just ticks me off, either of those pictures are great! LOL!

I was a 2 before and I’m still a 2 now. I was kind of hoping to go up some. I noticed some peoples went way up and they really only participate in blog hops and don’t really post much content… Oh well just stay true to yourself. Hopefully companies will stop depending on PageRank so much in the future!

That really stinks. I was excited because mine went from a 0 to a 2, but my worst fear is that the next time I check, it will go down. I’m sorry that happened to you. Honestly, I have no idea why businesses take so much stock in google PR anyways. Ugh! 🙁

OMG! I am so Happy! I checked mine today and I’m a 2 and thought I’d be an N/A or 0. I’ve only been blogging for almost 6 months, is a 2 good for 6 months???

Shawna, It’s really excellent…you should be very proud. The CHief Blonde!

Really!?!?! Thanks! I am very excited! Didn’t think my blog was doing very well, but guess so! My website Grader is 91, don’t know if it’s the smaller the better or the bigger the better with Website Grader! LOL!

        • Temberton says

          June 28, 2011 at 11:09 pm

Sounds like you are doing GREAT, Shawna! A high website grade is good. It’s like when you were in school and you got a 91 on a test. Good, right?!

  14. Darcy says

Google Page Rank only has the meaning we put to it (or what the PR peeps are putting on it). It sucks yours dropped. I’m happy to move up from a 0, but would be upset if I dropped too (or stayed at 0).

But like I said yesterday – you have more to offer than just a page rank number! 🙂

I’m so sorry you dropped to a 2. I see your blog everywhere, and I just can’t believe it! D:!

I went from a 0 to a 3, so I’m really happy about mine, but I feel terrible about yours 🙁

I don’t really understand how it works but I know I have been turned down for so much because of my rank. I sat at a 0 for two years, couldn’t bring it up for nothing. Then when it updated today I jumped up to a 4. I have worked really hard on my blog and I am so excited about the boost.

    • stillblondeafteralltheseyears says

      June 29, 2011 at 6:23 pm

A 4 is just super. Good for you! The Chief Blonde!

  18. Anne says

It is so confusing, and seems so random. Sorry you went down, but the jumping picture is awesome, and very creative.

      June 29, 2011 at 6:22 pm

The Jumping Picture is great isn’t it?

  19. Heather says

    June 28, 2011 at 7:07 pm

I’ll be honest and say I don’t fully understand what it means. Does it drive more traffic? Why is it important?

Mine actually is a 3 as of today. Last I remember checking – months ago – I think it was a 0. But, I could be wrong about that. Again, I don’t really understand what it’s about anyway.

    • stillblondeafteralltheseyears says

      June 29, 2011 at 6:21 pm

I know a lot of PR agents and ad guys use it to determine if they are going to work with you! The CHief Blonde A lot of people says it means nothing..Hmm I just don’t know.

      • Heather says

        June 29, 2011 at 7:48 pm

I suppose if it helps get more opportunities, it doesn’t mean nothing.

Thanks for taking the time to respond! 🙂

  20. Lindsay says

    June 28, 2011 at 6:34 pm

I think I’ll never understand how Google decides who gets what PR. It’s so arbitrary and completely random. I’ve seen some amazing blogs with very strong followings only sit at a 2 and then blogs that are full of really junk content sit at a 4. I don’t get it.

    • stillblondeafteralltheseyears says

      June 29, 2011 at 6:20 pm

Lindsay, to say the least I am stunned. I have been meta tagging for six months thinking this would help me hang on to my 3
      apparently not…
