When my daughter was dancing I bought her several nutcrackers to represent the characters that she played in the show. She had a special Clara dress made so I got her a Clara nutcracker that looked as much like her as possible in a similar dress. I then spent hours gluing trim and such to the nutcracker to make it look as much like her as possible. Ask any nutcracker mom (or Grandmother) how much time they spend looking for super unique Nutcracker ballet gifts for their ballerina and they will confess…a huge amount of time. It’s a particular period in a little girl’s (or boy’s life) when they are starting to identify themselves as “a dancer” or “a ballerina” and these cute little wearable gifts help them to reinforce that identity to the world. My favorite piece of nutcracker clothing that I ever bought my daughter was a black skirt that had all the nutcracker characters around the hem. One of the sweetest gifts my daughter every received as a Nutcracker participant was when she was the Snow Queen in the Nutcracker. Her partner presented her with a snow globe which showed the snow prince and the snow queen dancing among the falling snow.
