FACEBOOK BOWS TO PRESSURE AND BRINGS BACK CHRONOLOGICAL POSTS ON PAGES!

March 1, 2011 By Shelley Zurek

A Coordinated effort by 11,000 Facebook fans causes Facebook to CAVE!

Bring Back ChronoLOGICAL ORDER to Like Pages

Facebook has now changed the set-up such that POSTS on pages can be “Most Recent” (Chronological Order) or “Top News” (Facebook algorithm)!  The blogging world, small business, and charity organizations are celebrating this evening.  After an all out protest raged on a Facebook page called “Bring Back Chronological Posts on Pages”, culminating in a organized plan of attack each day,  it appears Facebook has given into  what they (And we) were asking for.

chrono facebook

While  it doesn’t appear that  Admins  get to set  the default – looks like the default is Top Posts (popularity order, just like our News Feed)–it does seem to me that once a person sets it (at least for the day) it stays that way…across all Facebook pages.  I guess we will know as time rolls on!  But, everyone who visits your Page can select their own filter default.

Plus, what a great statement for group effort. The group just kept commenting on every Facebook Page post, commenting on every event, closing all ads with the comment “Bring Back Chronological Posts”, blogging and tweeting, etc.  It was a massive coordinated effort managed by…a out of order (non-chronological) Facebook page.  HAHAHA!

DON”T YOU JUST LOVE FACEBOOK????
