Duchy Originals Cookie Review

August 16, 2012 By Shelley Zurek 160 Comments

Duchy Original Cookie Brand –Is Good, Does Good, Tastes Good!

Duchy Originals from Waitrose products, Original Oaten Biscuits, Highland All Butter Shortbread, Stem Ginger All Butter Shortbread, Lemon All Butter Shortbread.

All-natural Duchy Originals from Waitrose cookies from the brand founded by HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, are being introduced in the U.S. as of June, 2012. Traditionally baked by Walkers Shortbread in the Scottish Highlands, they will be available initially through WalkersUS.com and then in gourmet and natural food stores. The new line adheres to the brand’s commitment to produce a product that “Is Good, Does Good, Tastes Good.”

The Chief Blonde Remarks:  Women over 45 (and our younger Fans!) If you love shortbread cookies, you simply MUST taste Duchy Originals!  Now I am a shortbread fan from WAAAY back as my mom and Grandma always made shortbread cookies for every event, right out of the 1945 Betty Crocker Cookbook.  As a store bought shortbread–I have always loved Walkers shortbread because they are so thick and Buttery but…NOW I adore these Duchy Originals. They are thin, and buttery, with just the right amount of crunch…MMMMMMMM…oh wait..sorry I was just eating another one from my Stash.

Duchy Originals come in 4  wonderful varieties for their US introduction. These flavors include Original Oaten Biscuits, Highland All Butter Shortbread, Stem Ginger All Butter Shortbread, and Lemon All Butter Shortbread.  My favorite is the All Butter Shortbread, followed closely by the unusual Stem Ginger!  My daughter was pleased that the Lemon Shortbread were all hers to eat.  In regards to the Oaten Biscuits, I devoured these a snack time as they are a hardy filling cookie!   I love the fact that  Duchy Originals products were created by Prince Charles and raises money for charities around the world.  The products originate largely from his organic farm in the south of England. It’s been very successful – raising approximately $15-million so far.  Need more information or want to buy Duchy Originals?  Visit http://www.walkersus.com/duchy/

Highly Recommended by the Chief Blonde!

Inspirational fact- Twenty-one year old Joseph Walker opened the doors of his own bakery with a loan of £50 and the dream of making the finest shortbread in the world.

Lived in England for 12 years and ate these (and other Waitrose) brands. All wonderful and I have always wondered why more amazing products like this did not make it across the pond?!
