Cooking Light The New Way to Cook Light

Cooking Light the New Way to Cook Light

Cooking Light the New way to Cook Light Cookbook (MSRP $34.95)

still blondeThe Chief Blonde Remarks: Cooking Light The New Way to Cook Light Cookbook is just pure eye candy.  There are 400 incredible recipes, many with full color pictures, and full nutritional information for each recipe.  It’s “fresh food & bold flavors for today’s home cook”.

The Cooking Light Cookbook has 14 chapters and each recipe has a very detailed directions with many helpful tips.  This oversized hardback edition is worthy of your coffee table in its heft and lovely page paper quality.  I love to just browse cookbooks and this one is one of the best I have ever seen for that purpose.  However, the succulent recipes make you want to bust out your spatula and Kitchen aid, such that you can fire up the oven and make meals.

Several of the Recipes that I have my eye are on in the Cooking Light The New Way to Cook Light Cookbook include:

  • Gnocchi with Shrimp, Asparagus, and Pesto
  • Old-Fashioned Chicken Potpie
  • Wild Mushroom with Truffle Oil
  • Multigrain Pilaf with Sunflower Seed
  • Tortilla Meatball Soup
  • Easy French Toast Casserole
  • Margarita Ice-Cream Sandwiches
All the Recipes in the book are based on Nine Simple Principles
1. Embrace new variety
2. Cook more often
3. Eat more whole foods
4. Favor the healthy fats
5. Eat less meat, more plants
6. Cook seasonally and when possible locally
7. Learn new techniques
8. Buy the best ingredients you can afford
9. Cook and eat mindfully and responsibly

I mostly need meals for just everyday dinners so I really like that it has recipes for those as well as for special occasions. The fact that it calls for using more vegetables is really good too.

I like the idea of eating light doesn’t mean eating less. With bold flavors you get a better satisfaction than bland food

Okay, this may sound weird, but both Rick Bayless and Ming Tsai recommended this book?! That really makes me want to try it out! I have loved both chefs since I was a kid and would try out recipes and books that either one would recommend. And this has both!

    Thanks!

I like that it’s about being more healthful, not a “diet” book — and I love that it features recipes for every occasion. Why? Because I hate the notion/tradition of having to abandon eating right on holidays or when you have parties because outside of cut veggies and fruit, recipes for special occasions tend to lend themselves to high fat and calories!

When you think of light cooking, alot of times you think of boring, kind tasteless, not so belly filling food. I like how this book promises big meals with bold flavors! Very awesome.

I am always looking for something different to cook for supper. This book seems to have appealing meals that are healthier than the traditional fare I would cook for my kids.

I have subscribed to Cooking Light Magazine for years! I wanted to continue to cook foods that I loved (and that tasted great!) with out adding all the calories and fat. It actually taught me that cooking healthier doesn’t mean you have to give up taste!
