Eating Local at my Favorite Eateries

Clarkston MI Eat Local

Women over 45 (and all my younger friends) you can follow my Clarkston Michigan Small Business Shopping Path, as I make my way through Clarkston with my daughter and meet my husband at a few shops too.  We’ll be hitting our favorite store and eateries shown above.  All we have in our downtown are small locally owned businesses so we should have a great time.  See the interactive map below to see the stores, I talk about.

One thing my daughter and I will look for is a dress for her to wear to my son’s wedding or rehearsal dinner, so we’ll check out Frank & Me and the Village Fashion Boutique.   Another thing we’ll have our eyes open for is some specialty foods and local wares that we can get for the holidays, so Rudy’s Market will be at top of our list along with Essence on Main.  For sweets, it will Lisa’s Confection Connetion or the Union General Cupcakery, I also have several girlfriends that I need to shop for..so I can’t wait to see what I can find for them at Essence on Main.  For the home, I’ll check out KH Home Design and Clarkston Country Store Antiques.

One store I have never been in that I want to check out is Kinetic Systems Bicycles.  A lot of people from out of town come to Clarkston just to visit this specialty bike store.  I am sure I have missed some of the wonderful stores in Clarkston, but maybe I’ll discover them tomorrow when I am out!

Once we had shopped out hearts out, my daughter and I will meet up with my husband Walt for some great local food.  The hardest part will be picking between Old Village Cafe, the ClarkstonVillage Bake Shop, The Woodshop or The Union..Hmmm..Well, I can’t lose they are ALL small businesses!  Learn more about Small Business Saturday by visiting here: http://www.shopsmall.com/  and checking out my previous articles why I think Small Business Saturday is so important here and here.

Get out and Shop Small Businesses in your town or a town you are visiting this Saturday!

I was checking out bike posts due to today being bike to school/work day. I didn’t know about kinetic system bicycles so I looked them up. Looks like they are quite a shop. Have you been yet?

On Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Sunday. I only shopped small shops. (Except for the grocery store). My Cyber Monday purchase is also from a small online store that I absolutely love! I would buy one of everything they sell if I could.

I just love the small downtown mainstreet feel- not much of that here in Southern California, but I still made the trip out to support our local Small Businesses! I’d probably never make it out of Union General, with that Cupcakery anyhow!

You did a terrific job with the video! Your town looks so cozy! I prefer to shop local and try to support the small businesses in my city. I am sure I can make more of an effort though!

I whole heartedly agree. SHOP LOCAL…. especially this time of year where everyone’s “bottom lines” could use a little extra holiday cheer.

Love shopping now as I feel everyone, including local shop owners are that much more happy to help. HAVE FUN SHOPPING.

It looks like such a nice town. Not that much local shopping in Manhattan.

That looks like such a great time to spend in peace and quite. I know I have a small town like this next to me, but I haven’t been there in years. Maybe soon. Thank You for the awesome pictures

Loved the video and I think anyone watching would be inspired to go out and shop small businesses in their area.

Oh, I love some of those stores. I haven’t been shopping much due to lack of funds from losing my job and now just getting a job at Subway in Clarkston, but I know I will be going back out to those shops when I have the ability to do so. I love walking around over there everything is so nice and quaint.
