Introducing “Cake My Day” Cake Design Cookbook
This is a Fashionista Event and a promotional item was provided to me by Sweetworks. Hosts for this event are Still Blonde after all these Years and ModlyChic.
Introducing CAKE MY DAY by Karen Tack & Alan Richardson
This month Sweetworks sent us over a box filled with goodies and one simple mission – make a cake that’s inspired by a soon-to-be released book Cake My Day and utilizes some of the candies in the box. Challenge accepted!
UP Cake inspired by CAKE MY DAY
We flipped through the book, getting inspired and then went to work creating another kid-themed treat (like our Christmas Santa Hat Cake or our Halloween Eyeball Spiders). There is an amazing looking balloon cake in the new CAKE MY DAY book called Up, up and away, that started the ball rolling. Balloons are great but what do kids associate balloons with these days? The movie UP, of course. So why not go with that?
How to make the UP CAKE!
The creation is simple. Take a square cake, cut into the shape of a house and then decorated with colored frosting and plenty of Sweetworks candies to create the look and feel of a house. Make a dozen, or more, small cupcakes. Cover them in blue frosting and top them off with a large colorful gum ball. Attach some kind of stringy candy to the balloons and house to give it the floating feeling and Ta-Da, you’re done. Simple and totally do-able!
Special shout-out: Katy Rose of ModlyChic had her mother, Shirley Hinderer, create this cake for me. She is truly the hands of God, and I cannot thank she and Katy enough for their kindness.

I love that the cakes are so unique but not out of this world difficult.
I love that they use regular kitchen utensils to make these gorgeous cakes.
I usually get miffed when a recipe says to use a cake mix, but when I am creating art on the outside..a premade pound cake is acceptable.
I love the directions for how to incorporate the candies into such clever and beautiful designs.
I love that it has detailed steps for beginner bakers.
I like the boot
I love the decorated cakes! I WISH that I could be this talented when it comes to baking. While mine is not pretty it is tasty 🙂
I like that they use the pearls and sixlets to decorate. It is something so simple but it looks very pretty. It make the cakes so colorful.
I love the detailed steps and pictures that make it easy for any beginners or advanced bakers to be able to follow these recipes.
I like that you get sara lee gift cards. And all the different decorations are sweet.
These cakes are so creative and pretty and they look so delicious. Love this. I would lobe to win this and bake with my daughter and share all these tasty treats!
I like all the creative cakes. The work boot was so cool.
I love how big the book is and how many ideas you can find on using candies to decorate cakes (which I never really think of doing!)
I love how they use candy to be so creative.
I think it is a lot of fun (and quite a bit of art) to make a good cake. I like the amount of creativity in these cakes. I think it can really solidify a moment. I can still think of my first “remembered” lamb shaped cake. Of course I stuck my face in it and ruined it, but everyone remembers it 🙂
I love the fact that they use regular kitchen utensils instead of fancy tools to do the decorating!
I love the “Cupcakes, cookies, & Pie, Oh, My!”. It has lots of great ideas including a fan favorite on high heels shoes.
My favorite features of this book is that it has clean, concise instructions, and it also allows you to use products and tools you already have around your house!
I love the originality of the cakes included in the book!
I love all the fancifal cake designs and the beautiful candies and colors! That workboot cake would be so cool for my husband 🙂 lol
