Introducing “Cake My Day” Cake Design Cookbook
This is a Fashionista Event and a promotional item was provided to me by Sweetworks. Hosts for this event are Still Blonde after all these Years and ModlyChic.
Introducing CAKE MY DAY by Karen Tack & Alan Richardson
This month Sweetworks sent us over a box filled with goodies and one simple mission – make a cake that’s inspired by a soon-to-be released book Cake My Day and utilizes some of the candies in the box. Challenge accepted!
UP Cake inspired by CAKE MY DAY
We flipped through the book, getting inspired and then went to work creating another kid-themed treat (like our Christmas Santa Hat Cake or our Halloween Eyeball Spiders). There is an amazing looking balloon cake in the new CAKE MY DAY book called Up, up and away, that started the ball rolling. Balloons are great but what do kids associate balloons with these days? The movie UP, of course. So why not go with that?
How to make the UP CAKE!
The creation is simple. Take a square cake, cut into the shape of a house and then decorated with colored frosting and plenty of Sweetworks candies to create the look and feel of a house. Make a dozen, or more, small cupcakes. Cover them in blue frosting and top them off with a large colorful gum ball. Attach some kind of stringy candy to the balloons and house to give it the floating feeling and Ta-Da, you’re done. Simple and totally do-able!
Special shout-out: Katy Rose of ModlyChic had her mother, Shirley Hinderer, create this cake for me. She is truly the hands of God, and I cannot thank she and Katy enough for their kindness.

I love that some of the recipes use pre baked pound cake for a no bake option. Thanks!
I really like that it is easy to do with nothing fancy that you need!
The designs featured in this book are very eye catching and memorable. I could see these being great for wedding showers and baby showers especially. Also my daughter who is age 7 on Friday would be in her glory!
I love the creative cake ideas. The work boot cake would be awesome for hubby’s birthday. I really like that it uses already made pound cake so you can concentrate on the fun of decorating.
I love all the pictures and great ideas. I also like that many are easy to do
I love that they use Sara Lee Pound Cake gift certificates. Great way to speed up decorating by using cake already baked!
Using store-bought pound cake is an interesting and easy idea.
I love using the Sara lee pound cake to make these very beautiful cakes all so unique and so colorful. The kids would enjoy this as well who doesn’t like decorating a wonderful looking cake.
I love all the great cake ideas!
I am creatively challenged in the decorating department, but this book would make an EXCELLENT gift! Because, honestly, just about anybody would love to at least try these amazing cakes!
I like the variety of cakes in this book, such as the Timberland boot is great for guys and the monster cake could be for a boy’s birthday or for Halloween.
I like the different ideas that the book includes
I love that they talk about using store bought cakes as a base. In summer I have no desire to turn on my oven, but I can still make cute cakes!
I like the Sara lee pound cake gifts
I really love all the ideas that are featured in it.
Just looking at the “10-Step Program To A Better Cake” section of the book in the preview at Amazon was really helpful to me. Lots of good advice there, for sure.
I love the beautiful pictures and the variety of cakes in the book. There looks like there’s a cake for all age groups and holidays.
My favorite feature of the book is that you don’t need fancy kitchen utensils or pans in order to create most of the recipes.
I like that it is easy to work with PEARLS and Sixlets and they come in so many colors. I used to decorate cakes and developed carpal tunnel from squeezing the bags of icing to make designs. This is much easier to do and everyone can do it!
I like the creative things you can do with candy
