Do you want your FACEBOOK page shut down for incorrectly running a contest?
Mari Smith, my Favorite Facebook Authority, (and a woman in her 45th year!) just wrote a very comprehensive post over on Social Media Examiner entitled: Facebook promotions: What you need to know. Don’t miss this article. So many of us, me included, have/are running Facebook promotions incorrectly. A recent photo campaign between a VERY large blog and a VERY big dinnerware company required blog users to post a tablescape to the dinnerware company’s Facebook page! They both are in risk of losing their pages. I have been witness to one of the companies that I worked with losing their page over incorrectly administered Facebook contests–they had 454 fans at the time.
My advice is for you to bookmark Mari’s article and when companies ask you to run Facebook campaigns that are questionable, you can link them to this article.
While you are at it, “Like” Mari Smith on Facebook–I have learned a ton from her. She has comprehensive tutorials, sensible advice, and frequent tips that will keep you on your toes.
Blog Note: I wrote this post as a service to my readers. No compensation was provided.
Many thanks for the kind props here!!! (Alas, my age is incorrect though – I’m forty-forever). ;D
I did google and check, I tried to be vague. I will use Fourty forever in the future. Thanks! Besides, you don’t look at minute over 33, you wonderful Blonde you!
The Chief Blonde.
I, of course, learned this from Stacie…and I have actually emailed a few bloggers when I come across giveaways that have these “illegal” entries. I hope I don’t come off like a jerk, but I don’t want anyone to suffer these consequences!!
I have emailed other bloggers too, but they always argue. So I have stopped. This is so useful though for emailing PR companies. They could really blow it for their clients (and the blogger!)
