Super Bowl Caramel Corn Crack–The Best Snack you will ever make!

Super Bowl Caramel Corn CRACK

It’s hard to get a picture of Super Bowl Caramel Corn Crack as it disappears quickly!

  • 1 bag (8oz) Better Made Corn Pops (or any Hulless Popcorn)
  • 1/2 lb Butter
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Corn Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup Salted Cashews (optional–not needed but a slight variation if you like)

Spray a large bowl with Pam lightly.  Dump in the Corn Pops (set aside).

Prepare a large cookie  sheet or roaster by spraying with PAM (or any non-stick cooking spray)  or better yet line the pan with aluminum foil and then spray with PAM.

Heat oven to 250 degrees  (yes, 250 degrees.  Low temperature cooking)

In a 2 qt. sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat.  While melting butter, stir in brown sugar, and corn syrup. Keep stirring.  (make sure to use a 2qt. pan). Once butter is melted, stir for two more minutes.  Then stir in baking soda.  Keep stirring, it will begin to foam up and fill the pan. This process may surprise you, a really neat chemical reaction takes place!  Once the mixture is a nice caramel color, remove from heat and pour over Corn pops.

Quickly spoon hot mixture on to prepared pan.  Bake in oven on middle rack for 45 min.  Take out and mix every 15 during baking.  When cooking time has expired, remove from oven.  Let cool slightly (5-10 minutes), remove from pan into storage container, breaking up large chunks. It’s better to remove it from the cookie sheet, while still warm as it makes it easier to break up and keeps it from sticking to the pan.

Tips:

  • Make two batches, one will never be enough.
  • I do not usually add the cashews.  My brother makes two batches, one with cashews and one without.

WARNING: Now HIDE the Storage container from yourself and anyone else in the house.  This stuff is HIGHLY addictive.  I have seen people park themselves by the bowl and just eat until their eyes roll back in their head from carb overdose.  I always get cursed thoroughly when I bring this anywhere, as people cannot stop eating it.  I’d personally like to thank/curse my brother for introducing me to this snack.

TRY IT TODAY…but don’t say I didn’t warn you.
