Use Mother’s Day as an excuse to treat yourself to a new look this March
When Mother’s Day arrives on March 18 (UK date), over £50 million will have been spent on greetings cards and over five million bouquets of flowers will have been ordered. It’s estimated that a further £55 million will be spent on chocolate gifts – even though more than half of mums questioned in a recent survey confessed that all they really wanted for their special day was a cuddle!
Whatever we give – or are given – this Mother’s Day, it’s a great excuse to take a little time to appreciate family life. And as spring starts to blossom, it’s the ideal chance for mothers and daughters alike to brighten up their wardrobes and check out the latest ladies fashion trends.
3 great looks for a Mother’s Day lunch
It’s estimated that 49% of us will take our mums out for a meal this Mother’s Day, and one of the best things about spending time with your nearest and dearest is that you can be as dressed up – or as dressed down – as you like.
1. Denim chic
Match bootcut or skinny jeans with a blouse and jacket, or create a splash by dipping into the world of coloured denim. With cuts to suit everyone – and styles that flatter your bottom or tummy – denim is the ultimate in comfort and chic. Check out the ‘Curvalicious Bum Lift Bootcut Jeans’ or the versatile ‘Confident Curves’ range to find a style to suit you.
2. Get on trend
The vibrant design of vintage print scarves has been recreated in modern strapless dresses and kimono cuts this season, whilst bright knits feature geometric patterns inspired by Aztec and Native American cultures. For springtime celebrations, dive into a world of pastel with pretty candy colours of yellow, peach, pink and purple.
3. Dress up
If your family gathering is a little more dressy, you don’t need to spend a fortune to turn heads. Make the most of this year’s spring/summer floral trend with a knee-length shift or prom style dress in patterned fabric, or opt for a maxi dress to up the wow factor.
Treats for mum
If you’re looking for something a little different this Mother’s Day, why not treat your mum to something beautiful that she’d never buy for herself? A pretty pendant in white gold or sterling silver – with zircon or diamante details – will look fantastic but won’t break the bank.
