Did my Life get too Cluttered?
Blog Note: I have severely disappointed one of my readers, maybe more and I am sorry. I started this declutter challenge back in Jan., 2011. We had 3 months worth of prizes added to the pile and a nice group of readers jumped on board and participated enthusiastically. Then my life took over (one kid graduating high school out of state plus open house, one graduating college, sick mom, another kid moved out, high school senior went to college, 2 kids got licences, a wedding, a bridal shower, yada-yada-yada! ) Anywho, I let the ball drop on this and I am sorry! Especially to my dear reader who is upset with me. But the challenge isn’t ruined yet…we have this month to get caught up!
So Let’s Catch up!
Anyway the deal was, you were supposed to declutter one item everyday for 365 days. Then you were supposed to give your input every month into how you were doing as your entry and I would add a prize to the pile each month. You guys did an awesome job of commenting in the first three months.

I now have 4 kids and we have too many toys! It is always cluttered in the toy room
My office. It functions as the guest bedroom, craft room, CFO room and more. Plus is freezing in the winter so in my mind, the clutter makes it warmer. 🙂
Both myself and my hubby are clutterers. However, I can clean off a flat spot and he will cover it in no time!!
Make four containers. 1. yardsale 2. donation
3. look at later 4. trash
Stick to it. No going back. Clutter will be all gone soon.
My “guest bedroom” We moved here earlier this month and have wayyyyy too much stuff. So, what we still need to go through and/or what we don’t have a place for goes in there.
My office was a mess. I got all my office supplies, sales supplies organized and junk gone.
if it sits there a week and I have not done anything with it I toss it out or donate it. this goes for everything except crafty supplies
that would be the area around our woodstove we have a baby gate around it to keep the babies from falling on the metal lip all the way around it. well everything gets thrown in there i always clean it out but it always gets messy because my husband always throws everything in there.
my bedroom is my clutter hotspot
my biggest decluttering task has been trying to keep my kids rooms neat
would love to win the gift card!
my biggest5 declutteing challenge was my garage. I got half of it decluttered. the biggest reason this was a challenge is because there are a million spiders out there and I am scared of spiders.
I for sure got rid of at least a thousand items. We had a major garage sale and had over 600 items of clothing alone, and then furniture, toys, tools, and household items too. We did make almost $800 on that sale, plus had almost a fourth of our garage packed with stuff and we had Easter Seals come to take the remainder away. We since then added a sweet little baby into our home and all the baby gear with her. We now have to purge again and rethink what we can keep, as we have NO ROOM now. We put our tv on our wall and reorganizing our rooms to get rid of some more furniture and repurposing items for use. Have another load for Easter Seals to come for and our daughter with a now 3 month old is donating the outgrown items to another young mommy. We have a start, but have a ways to go….
Who stands in my way from cluttering? Well, me for sure and lack of motivation. But also having 3 kids at home still (of 6) and a husband who refused to go through his stuff…that is the biggest problem
The biggest factor in keeping something vs throwing it out would be sentimentality of items. With 6 kids it is 6x the items such as baby books, certain toys and clothes and blankies, art projects, grad stuff, etc, etc. Plus, even some furniture items are those we got from family…I cant part with some things.
oh, I am sure that I have! I had 2 garage sales during the summer! I also have garbage/recycle pick up weekly, which I use 🙂
I also donated to the local shelter twice this year! Which is always nice feeling!
my mother (who doesn’t live with me) and is a hoard. i love her. However,I don’t want or need everything. sigh…it is always a problem.
memories! I forget things easily…lol
If I cannot find it when I need it…then obviously, I have a problem!
