It’s Finally Here!
The Chief Blonde’s 2016 Top Specialty Food Product
The choice has been made!
I know you guys have been waiting for it, patiently, and now I can release the results! My favorite specialty food of 2016 was:
Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed
Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed bread has a ton going for it including:
- Packed with seeds: organic whole flax seeds, organic sunflower seeds, organic ground whole flax seeds, organic un-hulled brown sesame seeds, organic un-hulled black sesame seeds
- Contains no animal products
- Non-GMO verified
- USDA Organic
- Whole Grain
- 5g Protein, 4g Fiber, 660mg of Omega-3, 14g whole grain per serving
Sure sure! All these facts are great. But here’s the real deal…Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed bread tastes fantastic whether toasted or untoasted. It’s the kind of bread that butter nestles down into the bread’s crevices and jelly just infuses itself into all the crannies. MMMM!
Seriously, at night before bed, I cannot wait to get up in the morning so I can eat my allotted two slices for breakfast. Sometimes, I sneak an extra piece later in the day too!
What’s qualifies a product to be my 2016 Top Specialty Food Product?
I want to state for the record, that even though companies often send me specialty foods in the hopes I will give them a shout out, or put them in a blog post or video round up…I chose this bread all on my own. I was never sent it by the Dave’s Killer Bread, nor do they have any idea they are my 2016 Top Specialty Food Product! I have mentioned the bread in a previous blog post product roundup, on facebook live, and on youtube during my Specialty Food Sunday series (seriously you should be watching this) but even then I included it as a product I purchased on my own.
So what’s my criteria to be 2016 Top Specialty Food Product?
- Does it taste great?
- Do I keep buying it?
The answer to both is YES! The bread is so heavy, moist and packed with seeds that you will swear you are eating homemade bread. Also, apparently I am not the only one who feels this way. This bread is SOOOOOO hard to find instore. Around me, Sam’s Club and Kroger carries it. But you better be standing there when the bread truck pulls up, because Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed bread flies off the shelf.
Why is it called Dave’s Killer Bread?
In 2005, Dave was welcomed back his brother Glenn to the family bakery business after he (Dave) had been imprisoned for 15 years. Giving Dave that second chance paid off because the recipe developed by Dave has now made Dave’s Killer Bread into the #1 organic bread in America.
One in three of Dave’s employee partners has a criminal background. At Dave’s Killer Bread, they believe everyone is capable of greatness and that a second chance can lead to positive lasting change. In 2015, they introduced a non-profit, the Dave’s Killer Bread Foundation, with the mission to inspire other businesses to become Second Chance Employers and affect positive societal change.
Dave’s Killer Bread comes in your variety too!
I have also tried Dave’s Killer Bread 21 Whole Grains and Seeds and while it’s good, there is simply no comparison with Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed bread. Other Dave’s Killer Bread varieties include:
- Power Seed (regular slice or thin slice)
- Whole Wheat (regular slice or thin slice)
- 21 Whole Grains and Seeds (regular slice or thin slice)
- Good Seed (regular slice or thin slice)
- White Bread Done Right
- Blues Bread (with Blue Cornmeal Crust)
- Honey Wheat and Flax
- Sprouted Whole Grain

Searching through the Speciality Foods I realized that I need to get out more! I had no idea there were so many different sauces, salsa, spices, etc. WOW!
