The Company Store Bedding Review

August 6, 2011 By Shelley Zurek 305 Comments

College Kids and Dorm Rooms! Special XL Bedding from the Company Store Bedding.

Company Store college dorm XL sheets

Finally, a topic where I, a wise woman over 45, am an expert. College Dorm Bedding. XL Twin Sheets.  I understand it completely!  And so does The Company Store!   Heck, I have been to college (many many moons ago) and I have 4, yes I said 4, kids in college RIGHT NOW!  Ugghhh.  See why I understand what those “almost adults” need in their dorm room and what they don’t?

The Company Store bedding has prepared a list of College bedding and dorm decorating tips to remember when preparing for that dorm experience.  I agree with all of them and I even have a few more.

1) Remember that the challenge of a dorm room is its SIZE! Keep in mind these ideas:

  • Clutter needs to be at a minimum
  • Storage pieces should do double duty
  • Wall mounted or bookcase shelving–storage that goes up takes up less floor space
  • Free standing drawer units are especially useful because there are never enough drawers!
  • Roommates should discuss what they are bringing ahead of time.  ie.  you don’t need 2 TVs and two microwaves!

2)  Choose your bedding wisely

  • Dorm beds are usually a twin XL.  This size is not always available in your regular store, The Company Store always carries twin XL at their online store in a wide array of patterns and colors
  • You not only need your sheets to be extra long (XL) but your comforter as well!
  • Oh!  Don’t forget about the XL mattress pad!  One thing I have learned as a college student and as the mother of 4 college students–colleges have NOT beefed up their disgustingly thin cruddy mattresses.  A mattress pad is a must, but finding an twin XL mattress pad is virtually impossible in your local store, The Company Store always has them in stock.
  • Given the recent problems with Bed Bugs, you may want to consider a a protective Bed Bug Protective Mattress Cover set.

3)  Don’t forget about COLOR!  Dorm rooms are notoriously small and bland.  A burst of color (especially if you coordinate with your roommate) can make everything feel pulled together and fun.

4) Remember PILLOWS!  College students use their beds for a lot more than sleeping.  They watch TV from their bed, do homework in bed, eat in bed–that calls for lots of pillows to turn the bed into a multifunctional unit.

5) Here’s a tip of my own.  College kids are TOUGH on their beds and bedding.  Food and liquids get spilled on them, 4 different friends may sit on them and watch TV, and in general college bedding  just doesn’t get the respect it  deserves…so college dorm bedding needs to be durable and washable…something that you never have to worry about in bedding from The Company Store.

Still Blonde smallThe Chief Blonde Remarks: The Company Store provides you with a really great package to reduce your hassle when outfitting your teens dorm room ….a Complete Twin XL Dorm Bed…Choose  a 300-thread count 100% cotton Company Store Cotton® percale or 5 oz. flannel. Then add to that a La Crosse® comforter in light comfort,  you can choose Down or non-allergenic PrimaLoft® Deluxe polyester microfiber fill all for the low price of $139 (a $201 value).  Still Blonde after all these YEARS received the Complete Twin XL Dorm bedding package to review.  The quality was better than what I have on my own bed!  Other than the fact that the twin XL wouldn’t fit on my KING bed…I could find no fault with the entire package.  My daughter is one lucky college student.  The colors are so vibrant and the feel of the cotton is very durable and high quality.  I also love the fact that The Company Store has all the other elements you will need to outfit your bed in all the RIGHT sizes.  I challenge you to find a twin XL mattress pad, twin XL sheets, twin XL comforter, twin XL bed bug protector, and specialty pillows all in stock and all in one place.  I speak from experience when I say I have trudged from store to store to store and not been able to find all the pieces.  For one stop shopping, quality and selection that is second to none…I advise that The Company Store is the place to head for your college twin XL bedding needs.

What a coincidence – we spent 7 hours today trying to buy stuff for college – and A LOT of that time was spent looking for comforters and sheets – we didn’t find any she liked.

But she likes the mallard blue everything at The Company Store
