Questions about Simple Start?
I was given a free one month subscription to Weight Watchers to try their new Simple Start plan and write about my experience.Though I was compensated for my time and commitment, all views, positive and negative, are my own.
Where I Started on Simple Start!
As you know for the last two weeks I have been on Simple Start! You probably recall from my initial post: Snowmageddon, Snowpocalypse and Snowzilla! Help I need a Simple Start!, I am trying the two week . In that post, I discussed how I am going on long delayed (15 years) Honeymoon Cruise and I want to look my best. Drawing inspiration from Jessica Simpson, who just had a baby and is working on getting fit, I am walking 10,000 steps a day (using my Note 3 to keep track) and starting on the Simple Start plan. I downloaded the Simple Start app (available for Iphone and Android) and started trying all the great Simple Start meals.
At the end of my first week, I told you in Simple Start : Top Reasons to Try it + My Progress +Video some great reasons to try Simple Start including:
- The Shopping List
- 55 Different Meals to Eat
- The Simple Start App
- Meal Swapping is allowed
- Simple Start Webcasts
- Simple to Prepare Meals and Snacks
I even highlighted one of my favorite meals in this fun video!
Readers have Simple Start Questions!
My readers asked me a ton of questions including:
Tell me the truth…Do you really like Simple Start? No really?
My Sister-In-Law (and an avid reader of my blog..she’s over 45 AND blonde..duh!) asked me today: “Tell me the truth, do you really like Simple Start? Would you recommend it? No , really…would you?”
After two weeks of exploring all the aspects of the program, I can certainly see why Weight Watchers was rated the #1 Best Plan for Weight Loss by U.S. News & World Report 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014! They really consider everyone’s needs. Simple Start seems to be designed to get you off on a great two week start, but not putting any pressure on yourself for learning a whole new plan. Just a simple way to take charge as you ease into the Weight Watcher’s full plans!
A reader on my Facebook page asked me, “What’s the most difficult aspect of the plan? What do you hate about it?”
To be honest, I hate that I have have to use no-fat dairy products. I can’t STAND the taste. Most programs that focus on making a change require this aspect, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it!
Readers on my blog asked me “What kept you going over the two week span?”
Jessica Simpson, Weight Watchers lovely spokeswoman, really inspired me. She is a beautiful (blonde) lady who has really helped me grasp that I don’t have to make a ton of changes all at once. I can make a simple change…like walking 10000 steps a day and incorporating a simple eating plan. Watch this video interview where Jessica explains her philosophy. Some of her tips might help you in your journey and might encourage you to try Simple Start:
Finally, the question I got asked over and over was, “What about the food? Are the meals good?”
Yes. There it is. Yes, the meals are good. With 55 meals and snacks to choose from, Simple Start was really quite easy. With the downloadable app to support me, webinars to explain things, daily emails to give me tips and reminders coupled with the easy to prepare meals, I truly found the plan…well… pretty simple. LOL!
Here’s my latest recipe that I tried:
On the left, is the Simple Start Weight Watchers Tuna Sandwich with side salad. On the right, is my version using “Allowed” substitutions and “Indulgences”. I substituted lettuce wraps for the sandwich thins (which actually cuts 3 points from the recipe). In the tuna, I used regular mayo instead of no-fat for one of my daily indulgences. I also cut up carrots and cucumber and put them inside the tuna. I put the tomatoes to the side for color and a “wet” element to act as a dressing.
What Does the Chief Blonde Say?
Yes, I would recommend Simple Start to my readers. It’s a great way to make a change in your life without having to focus on a zillion things at once. Weight Watchers Simple Start program supports you at every turn. As I move into the next phase of Weight Watchers, I know I am going to be cruise ready now! Walt and I will soon be standing on the upper deck looking great!

I’m really surprised that WW is promoting fat free and sugar free products when a lot of other programs have deemed them quite harmful to one’s health.
I love that picture of you guys! You look fabulous. You guys are going to have so much fun on your cruise. That tuna salad was delicious; probably one of my faves.
Interesting to read about this plan. Best of luck with your journey and it will be fun to watch. I follow an eating plan by “Nutritional Weight and Wellness”. It was changed all the ways I eat and stabilized my weight and health. Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog!

You already look great Shelley! Great job with sticking to the plan – and that salad looks delicious! Pinned!
I hate non-fat diary too. I have been wanting to try the Simple Start so maybe I’ll just have to tough it out.
WOW – I have been staying away from WW, because once 10 years ago I so a recipe book and it was way too complicated. I guess things do change
The meals looks great! I am all about making the food look appetizing especially when you are dieting or trying to live a healthier lifestyle. Yum! – Katy
I just love how easy it is to substitute and personalize their 55 meal options. I’m horrible about boycotting certain ingredients, and this seems like the perfect compromise. Their meals also look very hearty and filling with a lot of different textures and flavors, which is different for ‘diet’ food.
I really like the changes that WW has made recently to help everyone make simple changes to live a healthier life. Glad the program went so well for you.
I loved doing weight watchers years ago. I learned a lot and have successfully kept the weight off. Your tuna salad looks amazing!
Sounds like a good eating plan! Those pics look pretty yummy too.
I’m so glad you found it worked for you. I know when I used Weight Watchers it was a plan that worked for me.
