This is my current philosophy as Chief of my Mixed interest Triberr tribe

My current tribe is a handful of fashion, some Mommy bloggers, some craft blogs, and some review bloggers. The thing about being in a “mixed” tribe is that you have different interests so you will not always want to tweet the things that others are tweeting, and others won’t want to re-tweet ALL of your stuff either. Ultimately, I decided to let each tribe member make that call. If they want to set someone on manual, they can. If they want to never tweet someone, they can. It’s up to them. I just like to remind them that it works in reverse too–people will probably set them to manual as well! My viewpoint on Triberr has evolved to this point and I feel it’s the right approach for a Tribe Chief, especially of a mixed tribe. In another, more strict “Giveaway” tribe, I MIGHT have a different approach but in this tribe which is for the members of my 2011 Fall Fashionista Event, I am now feeling this is the best approach. Please understand that Triberr is in Beta and so is my Triberr Chief philosophy. But I really feel that letting tribe members make the choices that work for them, is the best approach!
What I guess I am trying to say, is that Triberr can work for you if you join like minded tribes and set up your retweet policies in a way that works for you. I have lost 5% of my twitter followers since joining two tribes (one is a mega tribe of giveaway blogs) and now being the Chief of my own. But now in the last week, I have gained all the followers I lost and then some. Overall, I feel that Triberr has been great for me. I went up +6 in my Klout in one month and my page visits have been astounding (bear in mind I have had other factors affecting these numbers too).
Here’s a great article from Makobi Scribe with the theme of “Bummer–put them on manual”. Loved it!

What is your Triberr Philosophy for your Tribe?
Blog Note: I was not compensated for this post. This is my own opinion that I wanted to share to help my tribe!
As a reader (and ya know I am older and have an opinion on most things) could you Triberr folks please be SELECTIVE in what gets tweeted? I read alot of blogs and my twitter stream is filled with old tweets- tweet links of expired contests (maybe they have nothing else happening) and plain drivel.
I am gonna tell ya this too- the way twitter has changed, they made it alot harder to enter contests- tweet links are a pain to get and rafflecopter is NOT a cure all. This isn’t a rafflecopter rant, but it has alot of flaws after first entry.
The best way to get and keep readers is to be engaged. If you automate it all and are never available people lose interest quickly. You might have ‘more time’ but you have fewer readers.
Hi Ellen, THanks for your input. We are doing our best to figure out the best way to approach triberr and Rafflecopter. I agree with you very much on the “Automation” and Engagement issues that you raise! The Chief Blonde
Thank you for listening.
I also wanted to point out that on ‘new twitter’ on the web, users can not see if it is a triberr tweet like they used to. On tweetdeck you can and perhaps others it is possible.
There are quite a few bloggers I like and enjoy and at least say hello too- especially if they are having a good day or a bad day or only to say hello and figure out later it was a triberr tweet and I was basically ‘talking’ to a recording :/ Thats the way it was designed and the CEO has informed me of such rather rudely – one of his tweets to me was “after the beep leave a message” when I asked as a non blogger why I would have gotten a Triberr invite! 🙂
I think Triberr is good in alot of ways, but if a person cant be available on Twitter, perhaps be more engaged on another social media network- facebook isnt a cure all but it is there.
Most of your longtime followers continue following because they like your content, your style, they enjoy what you bring to the table.
My opinion of Triberr is changing too. It’s a great tool, but I think it’s better when it’s monitored. I leave everyone on auto but skim through my stream in the morning and delete those that are already expired, multiple coupon/affiliate deals, etc.
Since the Fashionista tribe is so big, thanks for taking this stance and sharing it with us!
Here here! When I first joined your Triberr group and started seeing everyone’s reviews and coupons being tweeted under my account, I admit I started to panic a little and wonder if this group wasn’t for me. Reviews and coupons are great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not what I post about on my blog. I was glad to see your Triberr philosophy evolve and shift, and I’m excited for the Fashionista Event to kick off!
That’s the best policy. It’s not personal if I don’t retweet, it’s that I know what most of my followers want!
