When Taking Photos, Introduce Laughter
I wrote about my experience with Poise Microliner as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars. #SAMInYourPants
As a lifestyle/fashion blogger, my husband takes a lot of pictures of me. Many of the shots, you never get to see. Thank goodness! One of his best techniques is to get me laughing like the shot above. This approach usually leads to a great relaxed shot like this:
The Chief Blonde is wearing BB Dakota Tallis Knit Dress ($99, Sale $63), Steven Allover Cutout Oxfords ($119), vintage navy hose, vintage filigree necklace
Laughter is a trigger
You see, laughter is a trigger for me. It makes me goofy, relaxed and allows me to pose more naturally. Laughter helps me to be less inhibited and as a result enables us to get a great shot.
Laughter, unfortunately, also is a trigger for light bladder leakage for myself and many other women, especially those over 45. I get irritated at having to change my underwear several times a day and never being able to wear the same pair of pants twice! You know how it goes, one minute you are laughing your butt off with your family and the next minute you realize that all that laughter has triggered leakage.
Time to discuss this important topic — Light Bladder Leakage
I put off writing this post, as I was unsure how to tackle it. I found it pretty embarrassing to discuss my issues with you. Then I realized, maybe by discussing the topic, I could help others. Once I turned the focus off of myself, discussing this issue became much easier. Light bladder leakage is so real for so many woman yet, not surprisingly many women won’t or don’t talk about it…ever. I’ll bet YOU or someone you know has experienced light bladder leakage over the course of their life, right?
Laughter Protection
I have recently discovered the Poise Microliner. It’s the thinnest liner available in the light incontinence category but seems to be just what I need, as a women over 45, when the giggles hit. I found that the super absorbent material (SAM) that the liner is made from was adequate to save my delicate lingerie and pants or tights from unfortunate leakage. Poise Microliner is so small that it will fit right in your pocket, backpack or even tiny evening bag.
EXCLUSIVE SAMPLE!
Now that I have tried the Poise Microliner, Poise and I would like to offer you an exclusive sample! Head over to the Poise website and See if Poise Microliner can get you laughing again and help you get the SHOT!

This post made me realize that I think I need to laugh more. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard that I peed a little. lol
That’s hard to believe. I am always cracking up around you. You are very funny! Shelley
I find that the Poise liners are just a bit too wide to fit inside my panties. The edge rubs against my skin and leaves a blemish/sore spot. I end up having to trim the liners down by cutting that irritating edge off. I’ve submitted this complaint (and it is the only one I have) to Poise. Surely I’m not the only one experiencing this issue.
Thank You for getting the word out I think it’s very Important to talk about LBL. At one time or another most women will experience LBL maybe we can become less embarrassed.
IT’s weird though. I think it springs from childhood and potty training? IDK…Just hate it though.
I have been looking for a pad that is accually for bladder leakage the only thing could use is a sanitary napkin. I am so happy to try it.
Joan, I like the alternative to pads! The Chief BLonde
You are too cute, Shelley! I have had this especially now after my little one was born. I need to check these out!
I remember how difficult it was for my mom to discus ANYTHING of a personal nature. Thus, she suffered in silence. I’m so grateful that we live in an age when help is out there. That there are people willing and able to discus the delicate subjects. Thank you, Shelley!
No problem Diane. It wasn’t easy. I avoided writing this until the deadline…but just knew it was to important of a topic not to be addressed. Did you get your free sample? SHelley, The Chief Blonde!
What a great article, this is a problem that many women like me have, thank you for shedding some light on it and thanks for the free samples. Looks like a great product.
Free Samples to try a new product of this kind are must dont you think? I am glad that you will enjoy them. The Chief Blonde
And it sounds like there IS a bright side to being childless, after all. 😉
Yeah, mine didn’t even come from childbirth though because I never had a vaginal birth! The Chief Blonde
It’s the giggles that always get me too!
Happends. It sure does – thank you for putting some humor into it
You know I had this problem when I was on artifcial sweeteners. I am off of them and it went away. I’m ordering a sample for the next time I’m on a trampoline though. LOL
I’m a HUGE fan of laughter for so many reasons, but like you, it often triggers some unpleasant results. But it’s great to have a product you can depend on so that you can just continue laughing and enjoying life!
LBL happens to all of us at one time or another. It’s great that there’s a product that is effective and discreet.
Great advice, Shelley…laughter is the perfect trigger for a great shoot…and keeps us smiling.
Thanks for stopping in to read this post Pam. It took some bravery to write it! SHeley
My mother had issues with bladder leakage and always used Poise brand products. I love the idea of the thin pad option. This is something I could use from time to time.
Yes, even young girls might like it at times.
I love how thin these ares. I don’t have problems with laughter but exercise or sneezing, watch out.
Yes both of your concerns hit home with me too! Shelley
I applied to get samples. Those microliners look more comfortable than the pads I was using.
Just so you know though…from now on every time I see you laughing in one of those pictures..I’m gonna be thinking…yep bet she leaked a bit :p
I love you anyway!
and guess what? You will most assuredly be right! The Chief BLonde
I think women of all ages sometimes have issues with LBL. Great to have a link for a sample, too.
I was having some women issues a few yeas back, even in my twenties, and had to work to restrengthen my pelvic muscles. Poise pads were a lifesaver to keep my modest and feeling fresh through unexpected incidents of light leakage. I love how feminine and discreet these new Microliners look, I will have to send away for a sample.
Thanks for your thoughtful comments and willingness to comment on a delicate but worthy topic Jenna!
Pricilla will truly appreciate what you have to say here. I’ll pass it along to her. It is a topic that needs discussing and it’s not like it doesn’t happen – better to let women know that there are products to help instead being left in the dark to feel embarrassed. I think it’s wonderful that Poise had made a liner that is so absorbent and thin.
Patty, It isn’t easy to craft a post like this, so your comments are truly appreciated. The liner is very helpful with LBL. Shelley
