Effective and Gentle Approach for Avoiding the Clog #tpPlus

December 5, 2014 By Shelley Zurek 32 Comments

Switching your bathroom routine, shouldn’t mean a call to the plumber

Today’s discussion of “Avoiding the Clog” is sponsored by GP. GP sent a tpPlus product for review. All opinions and experiences are my own.

Avoiding the Clog

Customizing your cleaning routine? Avoid the plumber

I have this “friend”, let’s call her Krista…

Krista’s pipes got clogged and the water backed up into her house. When she showered, the water backed up from the main, all the way into the house…so the water going down the drain from the shower? It was backing up into her kitchen, like literally bubbling up into her kitchen sink. It filled the sink, then ran over the counters, and into the cabinets…Lovely.

When the plumber finished cleaning the pipes, he gave Krista the insight of her life! He told her the new cleansing wipes that people have incorporated into their bathroom routines, in order to feel clean and fresh, are the worst thing plumbers now encounter when it comes to sewage systems. The plumber told her:

The cleansing wipes break up but they don’t “dissolve,” so as they run through the pipes, they get caught on everything in the pipes, especially tree roots. And they get caught, and then more get caught, and so on, until finally it’s a blockage. These wipes are marketed as being “flushable” which they ARE…but they’re horrible for your system. Flushable just means you can flush them. It doesn’t mean anything else. Shoot, you can practically flush a diaper. Doesn’t mean you should.

Cleanse without the Clog

The makers of Quilted Northern®, a brand I have always trusted, have introduced a new product, tp+™ Cleansing Foam with aloe that gives you a confident clean without the clog. You just apply 1-2 pumps of the foaming cleanser right to toilet paper before use. The BEST PART?  It’s flushable (because it’s just cleansing foam on regular toilet paper)  and septic safe for standard septic systems!

When you as a baby boomer, want to feel completely clean you will find tp+™ Cleansing Foam with aloe to be the perfect choice. tp+ Cleansing foam ingredients are effective AND gentle. Just 1-2 pumps does the trick and you can expect 100 uses from each 1.5oz bottle. The size is so convenient you can use it at home or on the go!

My friend Krista sure wishes she would have known about tp+™ Cleansing Foam with aloe. I can tell you that it provides all the benefits of cleansing wipes including cleanliness, freshness, and convenience without the horror of clogged pipes.

I like this so much better than wipes. I have persnickety pipes that don’t like much traveling through them!

I did not realize that with the wipes. My youngest son loves using the wipes, I will have to check into this for him instead.

Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle. Whoda thunk you could clog up your toilet with the stuff they tell you to use? This sounds way better – that or a bidet…we are so behind the times here. 🙂

WOW. This really made me stop and think, because we have those cleansing wipes in our bathrooms. Our guests really use them up, too. YIKES I don’t want that backing up into my house!!! I’d love to stock up with tp+ so that I don’t have to worry about it.

This is seriously genius. I am absolutely looking for this the next time we are at the store! We ran into major issues with flushable wipes that cost us lots of money so we no longer use those. This would be a great replacement.

Ouch. The thought of all that backup made me shudder. We have a septic tank and I don’t even want to think about backups.

Cleaning up wasn’t fun at all I bet.

Interesting concept, glad “Krista” found it for her home ;). I would definitely try this. We use the so-called flushable wipes at home but our plumber told us NEVER to actually flush them. They go in our discreet little bathroom trash can.
