January 16, 2010 By Shelley Zurek

Complete Idiot’s Guide to Read before and after the 2010 CES

ces-2010

The Complete Idiot’s Guide has an extensive library of books on varied topics.  So when I asked for books to review that would complement the 2010 CES show, I wasn’t surprised to find 5 recent titles which would fit right in before/during/after the show!
Complete Idiot’s Guide to COMPUTER BASICS–5th Edition
Joe Kraynak–Author

The Complete Idiot's Guide¨ to computer basics
What the Publisher has to say: The fifth edition of The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to Computer Basics places the reader in charge of the computer, rather than the other way around, and places the focus on software troubleshooting rather than hardware techno-babble. The reader wants to do something practical with his or her computer—this book shows them how.·Covers basic office programs and how to manage photo, video, and music files
·Advice on safe web-surfing, including coverage of newsgroups, message boards, and mailing lists
·New green computing initiatives that help protect the environment
·Maintenance and upgrading information
Retail price:  $19.95 (Paperback or e-reader);  $13.57 on Amazon.
Chief Blonde’s Remarks:  Discusses every topic briefly that you wonder about, in regards to your computer.  Up-to-date information that you can keep in a handy book form right at your side.  I found the format logical and the chapters were laid out well.
