Sanitary Protection ? Can you imagine, in 2011, getting through “That Time of the Month” without adequate feminine sanitary protection? Worldwide, millions of adolescent girls lack affordable sanitary protection as it is a luxury item!  It’s hard to relate to  the devastating consequences for girls in developing countries who lack these supplies, many of whom can’t or wont attend school during their period?

Girls in Mukuru Narobi tell horrible stories of what it is like to go through their menstration without proper feminine sanitary protection . These girls expressed great discomfort and anxiety because they cannot attend school, be with their friends or often (especially with a heavy flow) leave the house!  The girls and their families try to come up with solutions like making pads out of old bits of clothing, mattresses or even reusing pads they find in the trash!  Your reaction might be “EWWWWW, how could they do that?”  But imagine what YOU would do if you couldn’t afford or didn’t have access to the wonderful disposable products that we have at our easy access?

Huru Develops a ReUsable Solution to provide Sanitary Protection
