NOT my “Best Black Friday Purchase Ever”
The sectional above was NOT my “Best Black Friday Purchase Ever”. As you well know, sometimes what you think you want is not what you end up buying! Back in April of 2011, we found the above sectional at Furnitureland South in Jamestown, North Carolina. It was made by a very high end furniture company, King Hickory, and was $7500 (and that was Furnitureland South pricing!) Though we loved the piece and the quality, we just thought that the pricing was quite high for a cloth sectional. I tried every rationalization in the book, but nothing made sense enough to get us to purchase.
In truth, the sectional did have several shortcomings. The finish on the leather scratched easily. It was partially cloth, not all leather. The corner section wasn’t sitable and it had no matching ottoman available. So we walked away!
FOUND! Best Black Friday Purchase Ever
Fast forward seven months to Black Friday. Walt and I revisited our sectional search. Even though the King Hickory loomed in my heart, we knew we needed a more affordable sectional that better met our criteria. We went back to Furnitureland South, and even though I made a visit to my “expensive” King Hickory sectional, we went on a hunt to find a better (and more realistic) deal. Then we found this:
This sectional fit almost every criteria. The sectional was all leather and had a finish that wasn’t easily scratched. The corner section was sitable and it fit our finished room dimensions. But ughh…no ottoman. WAIT! I spotted one across the room in front of a chair that was also part of the grouping! Yes, I went there…
Poor Walt with his bad back had to drag the coffee table out of the way and get this heavy ottoman in place. We loved it. The Blac Friday price was right too, at less than half of what the other sectional cost. We paid on the spot and they shipped! Whoot. Looks great to this day in our great room. Definitely, my “Best Black Friday Purchase” ever ever!

Congrats on finding that great Black Friday deal. It would be great to find a Black Friday deal on a car.
I NEED that sectional! It is gorgeous!!!
that sectional is gorgeous. I really envy you. It’s such a nice color and I bet it’s soft too. Congratulations!
You definitely made the right choice. We’re in the market for a sectional this winter (after we revamp the family room) and I hadn’t thought about leather…but now i will.
I most definitely love that second sectional better then the first so I say congrats on such a fantastic buy! Very classy 🙂 My best Black Friday purchase was a New York and Company wool peacoat-I’ve had it for years and it’s STILL wonderful!
This might sound crazy but I have never shopped on black friday and probably never will. I can’t stand crowds.
After I moved into my second house I went shopping on Black Friday to get some of the things I needed. I had moved from a 900 sq. ft house to a three story Victorian so I needed a lot. The sales were great and I was able to make my new house a home. I won’t be going out this year.
This year I kind of need a mini-vac. Previous Best purchase was my laptop in 2009, it was $700 on Staples.com and I paid $350.
I want to get a great deal on GoPro. really hope so!
I bought a these TVs that went on the back of my seats. I bought them for all of my family members and they loved them. This year, I am hoping to get all my Christmas shopping done. Toys for the baby all the way to socks for husband.
I am secretly hunting a deal on Xbox one to surprise my husband for Christmas. We use our 360 every day and would love an upgrade!
I LOVE your leather sectional, well I love them both really but I am myself in search of a leather sectional right now and you know I will be using coupons.com and their black friday deals to find just what I am looking for! My best Black Friday Purchase ever? Well you can find out on my link below but between you, me, and your readers, my engagement / wedding set (which hubby found) and my laptop which I am working on right now! Yay!
I had never participated in the craziness of Black Friday…. that is until I found out the Coach Outlet was having a sale. I filled up on turkey and all the fixins and then drove an hour to an outlet mall to stand in line and wait for the store to open at 10pm. It was nuts there were ladies walking around with 5 or 6 purses on their arms. I found a purse and a matching wallet for only $130!!!! That was a super score and I called my husband at almost 1 am to tell him that I saved over $400!!!
