1000 Places to See Before you Die by Patricia Shultz ($19.95)
The Chief Blonde Remarks: 1ooo Places to See before you Die , the New Full Color Second Edition, (Workman paperback/hardcover, 19.95/32.95) by Patricia Schultz. I bought the first edition of this book for a family friend who is widely traveled. When he first opened it, he kind of scoffed at it, being so well traveled I don’t think he felt that it would be up to his intellectual level. Later, his wife told me that he that he spent over 1/2 a day pouring over the book, marking all the places in it that he had been and yelling to her in the kitchen telling her where he still wanted to go. Pretty impressive for a man who has probably been to 50% of the books content right?

I had a chance to use 1000 Places to see Before you Die when traveling recently in Baltimore, Maryland. I took the book with me. When I got to the Baltimore area, I pulled it out, looked up Maryland and found there were 3 possible locations that I could go in the state. On pg. 802-803, the book recommended Faidley’s in the Lexington Market and Obrycki’s in Fells Point–two different restaurants which served “the best” crab cakes Maryland had to offer. Faidley’s, located in the Lexington market was certainly all the fun and exotic Maryland vibe that anyone could hope for, with tables that you stood at to dine on crabcakes fit for a king! I met my friend Nadine there and we had a grand ole time! Oddly enough, Obrycki’s had closed but Fell’s Point, the historic Baltimore neighborhood where it had previously existed, was certainly a treasure.

The Chief Blonde Visits Faidleys, in the Lexington Market, Baltimore Maryland (P.802 recommendation from 1000 Places to See before you DIE). The Chief Blonde is wearing a Donna Buchman Dress from Kohl’s (on Sale $27.99) and Jewels for Hope Bracelet.

The Chief Blonde traveled to Fell’s Point, a Baltimore Maryland Neighborhood (P. 803 Recommendation from 1000 Places to See Before you Die). The Chief Blonde’s Jacket is from Massini from Target, Stuart Weitzman Strappy Vintage inspired pumps.
I know that men would enjoy this book for Father’s day or a Grad for graduation. As a coffee table book, 1000 Places to See Before you Die is a scene stealer and a conversation starter because as you thumb through the book, you recall memories of places visited or dream dreams of venues you long to see. The accompanying Ipad app appeals to me as well, because it’s so visually stimulating and incredibly interactive. 1000 Places to See Before You Die is one of my favorite Non-fiction books of all time. Highly Recommend.

They say books can take you places and show you far away travels. That’s definitely true of this book. Glad you enjoyed it so much. I can see where it would draw you back again and again and get people talking. It’s Read a Book Day. I think I’d like reading about all these places even if I never get there; still fun to learn about amazing places of the world.
Polar Bear Safari in Manitoba sounds amazing to me
She stated she wrote it to shock people to see other places in their lives and states the title is what made it so popular. They have some giveaways on the site too!
I discovered that they have over 200 new entries of places to see in the new book.
I like that they have a travel app and you can tag all the places you’ve been to and plan places where you would like to go and share with your friends 🙂
I did not know they had polar bear safaris in Canada.
I found it interesting that a lot of the places are right here in the US. Another hot spot is Western Europe.
The Ice Hotel, in Sweden, is a most see place in Scandinavia…I’d love to go there!
I learned that the rain is Spain stays mainly in the plain. Oh wait.
I learned there is an app that I promptly will download!
