When it comes to Hairstyles for Women over 45, Michelle Obama has been topping the news on her 49th birthday. Controversy over Michele Obama Bangs: Real or not Real?

Some venues are wondering if the hairstyle is a tease and in fact just a wig or clip-in extensions?  I say…WHO CARES?  Michelle  is beautiful and she is rocking it!

Hairstyles for Women over 45 — Bangs 101

Style icon Michelle Obama  appears to be celebrating her birthday by adding a blunt textured bang which comes right before inaugural festivities get under way.  So we got the opinion of George Gonzalez, who was chosen by Refinery29 as the ‘Best Bang Trim‘ in Chicago. George Gonzalez, celebrity stylist has  worked for Oprah and HARPO for 11 years.  Here are his “Best Bang Tips”

“Michelle Obama’s new bang is texturized which gives a softer piecey edge to the normal blunt style,” reveals George Gonzalez of George the salon Chicago. “To achieve, ask your stylist to chip in with the tips of their shears followed by using texturizing scissors to soften the initial cut to finish. Hair types that are very coarse, thick and curly will have a harder time pulling this look off unless you want to take the time to use a blow dryer and flat iron to style. Ideally, straight or slightly wavy strands that are fine to normal will work best for this new ‘Obama Bang’.”

I like her without bangs. I think she looks great either way though.

It’s funny, I had bangs for many, many years and finally grew them out. Now, I am back to bangs, but swept to the side. I kind of like Michelle O. without them. I do love that dress though.

I like both looks. The bangs look great on her and so does that dress.

I vote for without bangs, but I’d need a head on photo to really determine. It just looks like it makes her face rounder, and shorter to me!

To be that pretty! Bangs can hide some forehead line, not that the First lady has any but for the rest of us?

I like it. She’s already a great looking 49 year old. This makes her look even more vibrant and approachable. Go bangs!

I think the bangs soften her features so I vote for the bangs.
