This product helps me with all those lines and wrinkles and keeps my skin looking bright…it stings a bit when you first begin to use it..but that means its working. The Chief Blonde Remarks: I have tried Mineral Makeup, in fact, I have used a competitor to Pur Minerals for a number of years now. I have also had the opportunity to review several other Mineral Makeups. I was excited to try Pur Minerals to see how it stacked up! I sure wasn’t disappointed! Here’s some elements I liked VERY MUCH about Pur Minerals compared to the other BIG NAME Mineral makeup.

First: Pur Mineral’s packaging is far superior. With the other brand, the number one complaint that I have read that the makeup gets everywhere..and it is so so true. My car, my makeup bag and my bathroom all suffer from the makeup Mineral dust EVERYWHERE! With Pur Minerals, the packaging and formulation of the foundation seems to address this very prevalent Mineral makeup issue and the makeup seems to end up where it is supposed to…which is on the application brush and my face!

Second: I adore the the Pur Minerals Correcting Primer!!! You won’t find this product in the beginner kit of the other Big Mineral Makeup. As a woman over 45, I can tell you that the Correcting Primer is “da bomb”! It balances your skin tone and seems to reduce the look of your pores…a huge problem as women age! I am sold on the primer and will continue to use it in the future!

Third: Pur Minerals Makeup isn’t smelly. I simply cannot stand when makeup is perfumed…this is not.

Fourth: The foundation color was appropriate! I am as fair as a person can be without being translucent (or so it feels like). So I have often found that when a makeup says Fair or Light…it’s still NOT light enough! But guess what, Pur Minerals has a Porcelain Color which worked perfectly with my skin tone! And they seem to have a wide array of colors that will work with yours too!

$245 Portable Journey Gym Review

Now, I can sit here trying to tell you about how great the Journey Gym is for circuit training and how it is capable of transforming where and when you work out, as you will always have a gym with you…but why don’t I let you watch this two minute video give you the details. It will answer every question and doubt you may have. Go ahead…I’ll work out on my Journey Gym while you watch…

The Chief Blonde Remarks: So now that you understand how easy to use, effective, and laptop-like the Journey Gym is, now I’ll tell you what I think of it–and more important, what my working-out husband thinks of it. I thought I would be confused by the initial set up. It just looked so organized and simple, I didn’t think I could figure it out. So I showed it to Walt–who can figure out most anything (without directions). So while he opened the Journey Gym and poked around, I read the 5 easy set-up steps. Gave Walt a couple of pointers (HAHA) and we had it set up in 1 minute–really!

So here is me giving it a try:

Teehee! Actually it is super easy to set up. You just open it, attach the legs, attach the handles to the level of resistance band and start working out, like I am in the picture above. The Journey Gym comes with a work out/training video–yipee! I am horrible at figuring how to work out myself. My husband feels that he could use it in place of the gym in the basement, when he travels or if he just wants to work out upstairs in front of the TV! He is an experienced gym rat so the 20 different resistance bands that deliver from 5 to 75 pounds of resistance (and are built right into the gym) are what made a difference in his mind. I am only 5′ 4″ so the design fits me well, but Walt is 6’6″ –he was surprised how the Journey Gym has adjustable handles (just one touch of a button) to quickly accommodate his height. The gym can accommodate two people working out at once and will hold up to 350 pounds. Walt is a mere 215 pounds–so I can’t be over 135 pounds if we were to use it at the same time…hmmm. Oh well, I don’t want to show him up, so we will probably use it separately. My absolute favorite part (other than the fact Walt loves it) is that it stows right into our entertainment center, where we can reach it easily for daily use! Women over 45 and their husbands (and younger women too) will love Journey Gym.

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit David’s Bridal in East Lansing (Meridian Towne Centre, 4940 Marsh Rd., Okemos, MI 48864) and shop for New Year’s Eve Dresses! My wedding anniversary is New Year’s Eve and I like to look special. I had such an incredible time while I was there. I tried on dresses for an hour and half straight! I was assisted by a wonderful salesperson named Ann. She was so understanding and sweet. She laughed, took pictures and video all through the appointment, and left me feeling like a princess. I was fortunate too, in that she was close to me in age, so she could be sympathetic to problems that Women over 45 might experience (ghastly pale legs, saggy boobs, scary arms, etc.) and suggest fashions which were cute, surprising AND most importantly age appropriate.

The David’s Bridal Store in East Lansing was welcoming from the moment I walked in. I was greeted by the Assistant manager, Lisa and assigned my very own salesperson, Ann. The dressing room was well lite and clean (a real plus in my book!) I chose some styles myself and Ann chose a few more for me, as well. I needed the right kind of shoes and Ann brought out these stunning Vera Wangs. I also didn’t have all the right shapewear and she helped me out there as well!

I was quite surprised by the selection of cocktail dresses and New Year’s eve outfits for Women over 45 available at David’s Bridal. What I found the most shocking were the prices. Most dresses were under $150 and a nice selection of sale dresses were sale priced at $29-$49 (yes, you read that right). As you can see by the pictures here, they had many styles, colors, fabrics and sizes of dresses as well, for Women over 45! No matter what look you were trying to capture for a special day, I felt that I could easily find something that would suit my needs. I actually loved 2-3 of the 10 dresses I tried on so much, that I had an extremely hard time narrowing my choices down!

There were a few dresses from David’s Bridal that were just a little too sexy for me but they did fit nicely, one that I couldn’t zip up in the back (fat back) and there wasn’t a larger size, a few that were too demure (we Blondes like to have FLASH). But overall, I was shocked to find the variety of lengths, styles, and fabrics that I had. My consultant got to know my body and style as I went along and even grabbed a few selections for me that she felt would be figure flattering–and she was dead on.

In the end, I did make a very tough choice from the huge selection at David’s Bridal. Ann assured me that the dress was just right. I was rung up quickly, my dressed was wrapped appropriately and I was on my way. I may never have such a fun assignment again…but I will treasure my “Queen for a Day” experience at David’s Bridal for a long long time.

The Chief Blonde Remarks: I read Make the Bread Buy the Butter Jennifer Reese in one weekend while riding in the car on the way to an adventure weekend at Mackinaw Island with my husband. All the way to the Island and back, I was reading my husband the hilarious stories of Jennifer’s adventures as she gets herself into gut-busting situations of chicken, duck, goat and turkey purchasing. We laughed all the way as we read story after story that endeavored to evaluate–so Should I Buy it or Make it? I had never read a book written in this fashion, with stories and recipes entwined together and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed it. I found myself giggling (a lot) at all her silly adventures as she details how her family coped, how she was able to execute age-old tasks in a 21 Century World, and the art of raising livestock by the VERY non-agriculturally educated! What she finds will genuinely surprise you. I loved this book and give it a hearty two thumbs up!
