Still Blonde smallChief Blonde Remarks: Still Blonde after all these YEARS was lucky enough to see these bags debuted at the 2011 International CES in Las Vegas.  Hands down this was my favorite booth for design, so it was no surprise that the bags also are a brilliant design–so very Euro, without all the fussiness that we tend to include  in our bag Design in the US.  Simple, clean, and ubercool, the bright colors appeal to any generation, we Women over 45 like the crisp neons as much as anyone.  (See the Bright Pink Golla Slim Sleeve featured in this Outfit Post).  I particularly like the padding and Gen Mob Motif used inside  the Slim cover, this would make any Apple Ipad lover shudder in delight!  Surprisingly, my favorite bag that I sampled was the Phone Pocket.  This adorable little pocket protects your phone without all the bulk so many phone covers have and yet it can be used for ID and a bit of cash as well.  If you want Mobile Bags, with a clean bright design that will protect and enhance your electronics, Golla deserves to be your BAG!  Highly recommend. Perfect for Dads and Grads!

Golla Collection 2011 is available in stores worldwide starting from April. Golla is the original brand to specialize in fashionable bags for gadgets. Golla bags are known for their wide array of colors, funky prints and incredible quality. See the whole collection at www.golla.com.  Purchase Golla at Amazon.com and other major retailers.

2011 CES Fashionware Fashion Show–Living in Digital Times

[ 2 ] April 30, 2011

Electronics and Fashion–Who Knew?

2011 CES Fashionwear Fashion Show

During the 2011 CES, in Las Vegas in January, 2011, one of the best events that Still Blonde after all these YEARS went to was the CES Fashionware Fashion Show which featured a showcase of wearable technologies including solar powered backpacks, sophisticated mobile phones and netbooks, and fashion powered by light or movement, climate changing gear, and more.  Women over 45 were not featured in the show which was a disappointment , the focus of the show was Tech Fashions for Moms.

Various types of “Moms” were featured during the fashion, such as Blogger Mom, Day Mom, and Green Mom.  I am already campaigning for next year, for Women Over 45 to be featured such as “Senior Mom” or “Still Blonde” Mom–What do you think? Here’s a few shots of the model Moms on the runway!

Blogger Ware Mom 2011 CES Fashionware Fashion ShowBlogger Ware Mom with her Looxie easy to wear video camera, Kamerflage Thunder Cloud and Lightening Bolt Dress and A Fibanacci Scarf.  I’d like to say for the record that this is exactly what I wear when I blog each day…

Party Ware Mom 2011 CES Fashionware Fashion Show

I have to say that Partyware Mom was my favorite in a Snapfish Charm Bracelet and Miura Scarf.

Evening Ware Mom 2011 CES Fashionware Fashion Show

Evening Ware Mom was just plain ridiculous in a self inflating dress which made the model look like she had a big bulbous butt instead of the insect wings that the dress was supposed to inspire.  Just silly!

The CES Fashionware show took place at Las Vegas Fashionshow Mall.  The runway pops right out of the ground.  One minute it’s just part of the mall as you can see in the shot below, the next minute it raises up and there is a runway, podium and stage.

Finally, you really should know that in addition to the fashion, wine and high tech–the food was excellent!  Shh!  Don’t tell everyone or all the bloggers will be here next year!  Of course, if I am modeling then you won’t want to MISS it!

New TV? Super Bowl? Hannspree Novelty TV 55 inch Review-Lunch at Piero’s 2011–CES 2011

[ 0 ] February 4, 2011

Hannspree 55″ HDTV debuts at CES 2011.

Hannspree CES 2011

Hannspree, a leading manufacturer of creatively designed televisions and other consumer electronics, debuted a new line of 2011 products and also offered a sneak peak at yet to be released items—including a new tablet PC called HannsPad, operating on the ANDROID platform—during the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), January 6-9 in Las Vegas.  Handspree also premiered their products at the exclusive Press event at Pat Meier’s Lunch at Piero  where Still Blonde after all these YEARS, a blog for Women over 45,  was in attendance.

Still Blonde small Chief Blonde Remarks:  With over 4.5 million TVs to be sold, just prior to the Super Bowl, we think Hannspree has somthing quite fun and special  to offer.  We encountered Taiwanese TV manufacturer Hannspree when we attend Lunch at Peiro’s 2011.  Items in their line-up which we found particularly unique were their line-up of novelty TVs. Apparently novelty is one of Hannspree’s claims to fame in the electronics world. Now their novelty TVs have been super-sized up to 55″ HDTV in a great sports theme of football, basketball, soccer and  for the foodie/Apple lover a large screen apple frame!

Handspree 55 inch football HDty

In the past, Hannspree has featured novelty TVs,  however until now, their basketball, animal, and other  themed TVs have been smaller sized TVs in the 19″ to 28″ range.  The larger 55″  TVs each feature full HD technology, 4 HDMI ports, LCD screen and a 1080p resolution.  The price for this high end monster?  Well, maybe you need to be on a football player’s salary to afford it at…gulp..a projected $9000.  However,  I can see wealthy sports fanatics outfitting their sports bars and man caves with these novelty beauties.  What upscale public sports bar wouldn’t want a few of these hanging on the wall as well?  No doubt about it, a real attention getter!

Want one in time for the Super Bowl?  Pre-order for next year, you won’t find these custom order lovelies in the store!

Moving on to the Bellagio, where they were decorating for Chinese New Year!  So Beautiful!  When you are in Vegas, you never really need to gamble unless you want to.  Instead, you can just go to each hotel on the strip and catch their free features.  For example, the Bellagio, always has a stunning exhibit going on in their Botanical garden.  It is currently decorated in stunning yellows and reds for Chinese New Year.   As well,  their Fountains of Bellagio put on a complimentary show every 1/2 hour during the day and every 15 minutes at night.  This is hands down my favorite free show in Vegas.  Continually enchanting!

Well, a girl has to dream right?  This gorgeous limo was waiting outside of Bellagio for me, so I jumped in for a picture.  Looks good with the Chief Blonde right?  The guys in the car did invite me to ride along, but I declined!  I was already with my own personal escort, my wonderful husband!

WikiReader can now deliver over 33,000 digital books from Project Gutenberg! Women over 45

[ 0 ] December 16, 2010

Clever encoding enables massive Project Gutenberg library to run on WikiReader pocket-sized touchscreen device

wiki reader

Openmoko’s WikiReader, a popular palm-sized touchscreen electronic encyclopedia which contains more than 3 million English language Wikipedia articles, now can be turned into the world’s most portable eReader able to display the contents of Project Gutenberg, the oldest digital library.  Its more than 33,000 digital books can now be downloaded and added to the WikiReader by visiting http://www.thewikireader.com/update/.

Thanks to the efforts of Tom Bachmann, an Openmoko community developer, each and every eBook from Project Gutenberg, from the Bible to Walden has been converted and compressed so users can download the entire Project Gutenberg library onto a 4GB microSD card and slip it into the 4″ x 4″ 4 ounce WikiReader device for reading anytime anywhere without a need for Internet connection.

“Openmoko is making a real difference with the WikiReader,” says Mr Bachmann. “By creating an open device with the right technology and the right price, they have helped me fulfill a personal longtime goal: delivering a huge library of [Project Gutenberg's] 33,000 books to people’s pockets.”

Once loaded with the Project Gutenberg library, WikiReader uses the same framework for parsing as it does for Wikipedia or WikiQuotes, allowing users to search book content by words, refer to their own history of searches or discover a random book.

“I love that people will be able to carry the whole Project Gutenberg library in their pocket on WikiReader,” said Project Gutenberg founder Michael S. Hart.  “We are continuing to expand, reaching over 40,000 eBooks in the near future, and look forward to WikiReader including them in future releases.”

“Project Gutenberg is important not only because it is an astounding collection of literature, but because it shows the power of simple hardware running open source software,” says Sean Moss-Pultz, CEO of Openmoko.

The WikiReader is the perfect holiday gift.  You can grab the right answer at the right time or simply explore new topics and feed your thirst for knowledge for business, pleasure, or on your travels, or even augment your children’s textbooks.  It’s the Internet without the Internet.

Instantly useful, simple, and elegant, the lightweight battery-operated WikiReader is comfortable and fun for all ages and highly portable with simple three-button design, touchscreen and ergonomic rounded housing making it perfect for pocket, purse or backpack.  WikiReader is available at Amazon.com and http://thewikireader.com for $99. During December, Openmoko is running a promotion on their site that extends a 30% discount to previous WikiReader owners.
