Saint Francis Couture designs and manufactures high fashion, animal friendly shoes, accessories, and they are now introducing apparel and jewelry. The company’s founder and designer, Tere Albanese, is a vegetarian and refuses to wear anything made from animals. “I thought the world needed some high fashion, moderately priced, comfortable, but sexy, shoes and accessories that were cruelty free,” said Tere. The company is named after Saint Francis, who is the patron saint of animals. Her first line is the Africa Collection, which honors African Wildlife.
This month’s featured product is the Africa Ankle Boot 3″ Heel. Great for slipping on under paints or jeans. Rounded Toes for comfort. Rubber sole for quiet, comfortable walking. 5” zipper. 3” heel, which is sexy, but all-day wearable.

Chief Blonde Remarks: I am not sure I really need to say a thing about Saint Francis Couture. Look at the picture above, then look at the price. If that doesn’t convince you–look again. The quality of the product is even nicer in reality. I was sent the Africa belt ($38.00) pictured above (yea–it’s me modeling, no one uses women over 45 in their advertising and I try my hardest to buck that trend by ONLY using women over 45 to model items on this blog–so you are stuck with me!), the darling Africa clutch bag ($38.00) and the Africa Sandal ($42.00). The quality of the Saint Francis Couture items were just unbelievable. The belt buckles and other trim pieces were heavy and substantial, not the least bit chintzy. You may not have realized this but I am a SHOE freak. I will stalk a pair of shoes for YEARS on ebay until they turn up! So from a true shoe addict, I can say I seriously love these shoes. The fact that they are animal friendly is just another bonus in my mind. Did I mention they have really cute pleather jackets too? Chief Blonde remarks: Oh Hardbodies and Wannabes! Have I got the Greatest activewear for you! Hard Tail Forever is known for their uber cool, comfortable clothing. I wasn’t sure if the a woman of my ancient age, who is definitely a woman over 45 would look good in this clothing that was designed for people who have rock hard abs and well-toned butts. So there I am in the picture above, in my splatter rollover yoga pant ($72.00) and my Shirred Long Tank (Normally $44, on sale for $28!). I was very pleased with the fit and thought it made me look kinda “all that”. My husband agreed! This is premium fitness wear with super sturdy construction. They are known especially for their yoga pants but there are many other cute items in their line, including shirts, camis, skirts, shorts, and dresses. Also, some items for GUYS. Shop here for the complete line Hard Tail Forever! The line was surprisingly true to size. If I was ever going to excercise, this is the clothing I would have on. But I’m going to use my Hard Tail for lounge wear–which it is also well suited. Excellent for the hardbody set, or the fit but not so serious Women over 45! Highly Recommend!

So I am super picky when it comes to shoes–wearing, recommending, buying or whatever. Well, these Sebago shoes are just like getting a pair of ruby slippers! You put the Sebago Plazas on and they don’t won’t come off. I have wore them with Socks (a la Michael Jackson) and without socks (late 70s baby!)–still comfortable. They look cute with a chino skirt or a pair of super straight jeans. You will never never catch me wearing capris but I imagine they would look nice with capris as well. Each time I wear the shoes, they keep getting better, just like they were made for me! I know you are so very very jealous of me because I have these classic loafers and you don’t. Too much style – They think insanely expensive, a big logo, and the latest New York fashion is right for a middle manager in Phoenix.
Some women in business believe that because they spend insane amounts to wear the latest styles from New York their career look just couldn’t be better. They’re wearing the Rolls Royce of outfits and if anyone doubts how great they look they must be mistaken because these are “this year’s colors” or “how they’re wearing slacks in New York” and after all, “they’re Jimmy Choos”. Unfortunately many of these styles only look good if you’re an underweight 6 foot 19 year old and very few women in business fall into this category. The style rule you must follow to look great and have presence is to make wardrobe decisions based on what looks good on you; with what’s in style only a secondary consideration.
Too young – A fifty year old insurance exec shouldn’t shop at Forever 21; no one will take her seriously!
This wardrobe trap can snare even the smartest of women in business and it is deadly for a career. A simple example will make the point. If you are a forty five year old office manager, don’t shop at Forever 21. For some reason a surprising number of women believe they can take off 10 years by dressing 20 years younger; when actually the opposite is true. It may be fun but you will never achieve the look you’ll need to be a leader in your field. The people who could put your career on the fast track won’t take you seriously. This is about appropriateness; dress just right for your age.
Too bad hair – A home perm, budget dye, and $20 cut will block the route to a corner office every time; moonlight if you must to afford the best appropriate cut.
