Completely Cute — Vionic Footwear

airlie Vionic Footwear orthoheel

Vionic Footwear Airlie (on sale now for $58.99)

Vionic! Of Course!

I had the opportunity to test drive a pair of Vionic with Orthaheel Technology Airlie Slip-on Mules. Of course, I said yes. Who doesn’t want to try all the shoes? And I didn’t have to buy all the shoes to do it. Complete fabulous win!

My first impression of the Airlie from the Vionic Footwear website was, “Leather. Well-made. Casual. But a little meh on the style.”  Then I saw them in person and realized I was wrong. They are completely cute. Mine are pewter, a soft metallic, with silver studs that look especially great with jeans.

Airlie could also be paired with hand-knit, super excellent, specialty socks and a skirt for those with the legs for it. That’s not me, but I know it would look fabulous!

There are four other colors–bronze metallic, black, navy and wineberry (purple)—so the options for styling this mule are endless as long as you aren’t thinking evening gown or cocktail dress.

Normally, I’m an 8.5-9, but an 8 is perfect, so they run big and are in whole sizes. The velcroed strap accommodates my high instep. While cute is the first thing I saw about this mule, it wasn’t the only thing. For me, shoes must be comfortable. Some women can wear shoes that look great even if they don’t feel great. I’m not one of those women, not even in my 20’s. Now that I’m not 20 anymore, well, I still don’t compromise on comfort., even a little.

Putting on the Airlie was like stepping onto a pillow. I love to be barefoot, but this actually feels better than barefoot because I get arch support. Some may think walking on a cloud is better, but clouds have no substance, so I’m sticking with my pillow metaphor. These mules are incredibly comfortable.

This is exactly what the founder of Orthaheel intended with the shoes. Comfort, pain relief, and cute. Well, the Orthaheel website doesn’t use the word cute–that’s mine–but I am pretty sure Orthaheel founder, Dr. Phillip J. Vasyli, didn’t want not-cute shoes.

I’m not the only one that finds these Airlies comfortable. Through a delivery mix up, the secretary at my children’s elementary school actually received the shoes and didn’t know why. She really liked them, so after I wore them to work and appreciated their comfort—yay—I gave them to her to do her own test drive. She also gave Airlie high scores in cuteness and comfort, but she wasn’t a fan of the flip-flopping of a mule. My friend works on a carpeted concrete floor, and she has trouble with leg cramps at night because of it. But the night of her Airlie day, she had no cramps and slept the whole night, waking rested and content. I’m thrilled for her.

Since she doesn’t dig the mule, she could pick another style with help from a Vionic Product Specialist. I think she’ll go with Mary Janes. Maybe flats. She’s definitely a fan of Orthaheel or maybe some of these new-for-spring Vionic styles:

Me? I’m a fan of Vionic with Orthaheel Technology and the Airlie.

The Vionic Footwear Airlie Slip-on Mules with Orthaheel technology were reviewed by Marie Morley, Fabulous Single Mom, a single mom blogger over 45.

Vintage Accessories with Karina Dresses Emily

Dressorize with Vintage Accessories!

Blog Note: Whoot! I was provided a classic Karina Dresses Emily for this “Vintage Accessories” review!

Vintage Accessorizing Karina Dresses Emily

Vintage and Vintage Look Accessories: Vintage Clip Teal Beaded Clump Earring (similar):  Bakelite Rhinestone Hinged Cuff (similar); Bally Oxfords (similar); Simple Vera Vera Wang for Kohls Necklace (similar) and Vintage Jacket with Faux Leather trim (similar);  last picture, the Chief Blonde is wearing Laura Mercier Gel lip Colour in Clementine ($23).

Vintage Accessories : Making a modern look feel familiar

Oh, how I love to accessorize! One of these days, I will do a post on how I store my accessories, which I am sure will amaze you. Of all my accessories, my vintage accessories are my favs. They just look so unique and really hit the mark when putting together any outfit.

A bright lipstick for spring, like this Limited Edition Laura Mercier in Clementine,  is so appropriate. It’s a gel based lip color and the coverage is sheer with the most surprising vanilla flavor!

The Karina Dresses Emily

Vintage Accessorizing Karina Dresses Emily

Location:  The “Old” Clarkston United Methodist Church. The Chief Blonde is modeling the Karina Dresses Emily ($118) in Black Stripe Ponte

The Emily from Karina Dresses is a shift/sheath dress that hits at the knee. The fabric that I am wearing the Emily dress in above is black with gorgeous silver metallic stripes. The dress is neutral in a fun way, because it’s not just black/black/black. I found it very easy to accessorize. The Emily is officially now the Chief Blonde’s favorite Karina, a shift/sheath dress always is the perfect fit for me. Currently, the Karina Dresses Emily lists for $118! STEAL!

Like all Karina dresses, the Emily is made right in the USA in Brooklyn, NY! All Karina Dresses are machine washable and wrinkle-free (perfect for spring breaks or summer vacations). I would advise this dress for anyone with an hour glass figure like me! While only currently available in darker work appropriate colors, I hope they bust this dress out in some bright graphic prints for summer!

Super for church, work or travel

I have worn this dress three times since getting it a week ago! It’s hands-down my favorite Karina! It moves easily and works with everything I own. I wore it to church and then Walt snapped these pictures on our way home at the side of the Old Clarkston United Methodist Church (now a residence). Then, I wore it to Chicago for a quick weekend trip to see my new grand neices!  After that, I wore the Emily over to our neighbors for drinks and board games. The dress transitioned perfectly, no matter where I wore it.

Cheetah-licious!

[ 57 ] March 21, 2014 |

PRRRR…

Blog Note: Whoot! I was provided a snazzy Karina dresses Penelope for this “Cheetahlicious” review!

Karina Dresses Cheetah Penelope 1

Location: Fenton Fire Hall, in Fenton, MI. The Chief Blonde is wearing Karina 3/4 Sleeve Penelope Cheetah Dress ($158), Sam’s Club embellished tank top (similar), Aerosole oxfords  (similar) ,

The Karina Dresses Penelope

The Penelope from Karina Dresses has a criss-cross v-front, small gathers on front and back bodice, waistband with pleated skirt, and pockets!!! I love how it is not a big flowy skirt, but a little more fitted. It hits me above the knee ( I am 5′ 4″). Currently, the Karina Dresses Penelope  lists for $158. (Psst…there might be a sale) Get over there NOW!!

The Penelope is one of my favorite Karina Dresses but I wouldn’t advise it for those that are long waisted. It lends itself well to wearing with a camisole and/or a sweater. As always, I adore Karina dresses because they are US MADE, right in Brooklyn, New York.

Karina Dresses Cheetah Penelope spring 2014 #dresstacular

Don’t up you love this turquoise Penelope for spring? Karina dresses are made of limited edition microfiber fabric that is breathable and durable. They fit great and are very flattering…they will be there for you, 5 pounds up or down!

Great for Drinks with Friends or Playing Marbles

Karina Dresses Cheetah 3a

I wore this dress on a trip out with friends to the Fenton Fire Hall, in Fenton, MI.  After we ate, we went to  a friend’s and played marbles until 12:30 am! The dress took me through 7 hours and still looked grand.

lil Alice Michigan Made Aprons and Totes

[ 209 ] March 8, 2014 |

lil’ alice — Sassy and Crafty Michigan Products

lil alice aprons totes carryalls Fashionista Events 2
lil alice creations–left to right, top to bottom:  Market Tote $10, Apron $40, XL Makeup Bag $18, Terry Cloth Essential Zip $10, Medium Zip Pouch $12, Faux Leather zip $15, Large Canvas Tote $32

Exciting designs, handmade for you!

I was contacted by Katy of lil’ alice to review samples of her Michigan made etsy line of aprons, totes and pouches. As lil’alice is one of the first Michigan products (the state I am from) that I have reviewed since I started blogging, I was super excited. WOWZA! I was not disappointed. Everything was such high quality and so cute.

Here’s how much I loved the zipped pouches…I ordered a yellow purse so I could carry all the cute pouches inside! Of course, both totes will serve to fulfill my desire to STOP using plastic bags. I always forget my cloth sacks when I go to the store and end up with those horrid plastic bags, but no more! Who could leave these darling bags in the car?
lil alice aprons totes carryalls Fashionista Events
Just to give you and idea of the charm of the lil’ alice products, here’s what the owner has to say about her design process:

lil’ alice is the perfect place to buy Made in Michigan products. lil’ alice specializes in making aprons, essential zip pouches in various sizes and the most wanted accessories!

This is my hobby turned biz in Jan 2012! Yeow!

I love to sew. I love to create! My items are made with fun fabrics that are of great quality! My items are made to perfection. I buy, measure, cut, sew, press & ship everything myself.

I love the sturdy fabric that is employed in the products. The designs are just right. For example, the Market Tote has a gusset which allows the bag to freely sit either filled or empty but it folds nicely when not in use.

The attention to detail can’t be missed. In the Large Tote, it’s made with durable canvas, lined with white cotton with handles that are long enough to carry on your shoulder.

The fabrics have a vintage feel as is illustrated by the aprons. This fun & sassy apron by lil’ alice is sure to kick your home cooked meal up a notch!

Big bonus?  All lil’ alice products are made in Michigan by the designer in a pet free & smoke free studio.
