Wearing Pantyhose can be Good for your HEALTH Too!

Women over 45, do you remember when you wouldn’t ever dream of going anywhere in a dress without wearing pantyhose, some of you can probably even recall when you didn’t go anywhere without a girdle and stockings!

Well, apparently, Kate Middleton, the beautiful British bride of Prince William is being seen EVERYWHERE in sheer pantyhose!  Yep, that’s right, Kate Middleton wears sheer pantyhose! And it’s probably not because she forgot to shave either!  It seems the Queen prefers her little royal ladies to be seen in public in hose, and Kate Middleton is  towing the line on that trend! You will never see the Queen in anything but the stiffest support hose.  It seems that across Britain and even starting in the US,  is a movement to bring back to wearing pantyhose, at least for special occasions!  Pantyhose are simply flying off the shelves where they are available–many department stores NO LONGER EVEN CARRY PANTYHOSE!  Really!

YIPEE!  The Chief Blonde is secretly thrilled beyond belief!  She has scary like death very pale skin and as result (and especially because she is over 45) a nice sheer pantyhose can actually provide a little bit of enhancement to  a pair of legs that otherwise aren’t too bad…

Medical Benefits of Pantyhose

Did you know that you can realize Medical Benefits from wearing Pantyhose as well?

According to Board Certified Vein Specialist, Dr. Z. Catherine Navarro (www.DrNavarr.com) from the  Vein Center of the Palm Beaches, the following benefits of  Panty Hose can be expected.

Provide Comfort

A more sturdy kind of hose, often called support hose can provide relief to  tired legs and apply soothing  pressure to  massage the lower limbs which leads to  improved circulation and a reduction in discomfort .  Anyone who spends a long time on their feet such as beauticians, medical workers, athletes,  production supervisors  will find support hose or even the high energy pantyhose useful, which we would bet is one of the reasons Kate Middleton is wearing them as well!

Stop Health Risks in their tracks with Prevention

Varicose veins, spider veins, inadequate circulation, and swelling in the feet, legs or ankles can be prevented by wearing support hose.  Spider veins usually appear first and look like little red spiders when they appear on your legs.  The Chief Blonde first got spider veins when she was just 23 years old and was working as a production supervisor.

Medical & Health Concerns can be relieved

The Mayo Clinic strongly supports the use of support hose to reduce all kinds of risks from extended standing or long hours of work.  Some of the concerns addressed by support stockings use are chronic venous insufficiency,  thrombosis, and even pulmanary embolism (when a clot breaks off blocking an artery to the lung)

Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen Chooses Sophie Hallette Lace for Kate Middleton’s Royal Gown

After much anticipation across the globe, the wedding gown of the century was finally unveiled and it was a vision of modern British splendor.  Kate Middleton, the new Duchess of Cambridge, wore a gown designed by Sarah Burton, the Artistic Director at Alexander McQueen. Made of white and ivory satin gazar and designed to emulate an opening flower, the gown featured a lace adorned bodice inspired by Victorian corsetry – a classic McQueen reference, a plunging neckline, long sleeves, and a train of more than nine cascading feet.

A truly extraordinary lace was needed to exalt the dress and in a symbolic nod to time-honored traditions, Burton and the newest member of the monarchy chose Sophie Hallette, the renown French company that has been making lace since 1887.

“Everybody from the factory floor to the designers was thrilled when the news spread that our lace was on the dress,” said Romain Lescroart, CEO of Sophie Hallette. “Our laces have adorned haute couture creations and luxury goods worldwide for 127 years, but this certainly marks a crowning achievement in our history for which we draw great pride.”

The Sophie Hallette lace selected by Burton is an exclusive model designed in 1958 and was manufactured on artisanal looms that are more than 100 years old. The roses, daffodils and shamrocks of the particularly dainty floral motif were cut out from the original lace and hand-sewn onto the silk tulle of the décolleté, sleeves and train by the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace, using a Carrickmacross lace-making technique, which originates from 1820′s Ireland.

Did You Love Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen Dress?

Kate's dress every angle

The newest princess and Queen-to-be Kate Middleton wore a simple yet totally elegant gown designed by Alexander McQueen which reminded me INSTANTLY of Grace Kelly’s dress that she wore in her 1956 wedding to Prince Rainier III. What do you think?

1956 Grace Kelly Dresskate_middleton_wedding_dress_

Kate’s Royal Wedding dress was certainly not as elaborate as Princess Grace’s wedding dress but even a Woman over 45 cannot deny the nod to the Grace’s elegance and simplicity.  The dress was ivory silk tulle and featured the national flowers of Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England–this detail can be noted in the sleeves of the gown.  Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Barton is credited with hand making the wedding dress for Prince William’s lovely bride.

Cartier Halo Tiara

Cartier, designed the tiara which Middleton wore, in 1936, it is refered to as the Cartier ‘Halo’ Tiara. With the flowers on the edge entirely hand embroidered, Kate’s lovely veil is also made from ivory silk tulle.  I thought that the Bride’s sister, Pippa, was a charming accessory to Kate, also in a an ivory gowned designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.   Pippa dress was uber-simple.  Pippa looked so much like Kate that is was like looking a mirror images of the same person in contrast–Coincidence?  I think not!

Kate’s Train was reported to be 6 feet long.  Princess Diana’s was 25 feet Long!  Oh My!

Queen-Elizabeth-wedding-dress

Some people are comparing Kate’s dress to the Queen’ s wedding dress from 1947.   I personally like Queen Elizabeth’s but then the Chief Blonde got married in a 1940′s dress as well!
