John Frieda’s Extensive Product Line

I was so excited when John Frieda selected me to try out some of their latest products and offer my opinion.  As a blogger,  I love to take a look at products that I don’t normally buy myself and let you know what I think.  Through my partnership with John Frieda, I can let you know about many of their recent products.  I was shocked at how extensive their hair care line was when I received the following products:

• Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner

• Sheer Blonde Everlasting Blonde Shampoo and Condition

• Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo and Conditioner

• Full Repair Full Body Shampoo and Conditioner  + Full Repair hydrate + nourish Deep conditioner

Let’s Get to the Pictures First

Here’s my Before Shot:

stillblondeThe Chief Blonde Remarks:  The top “Before” picture was taken using my regular hair products.  You will note that it is styled and I have makeup on (so many “Before” pictures don’t).  The “After” pictures were all taken over a two week period as I was using the various SALON QUALITY John Frieda Products. I liked the different hairstyles I was able to achieve with each of the products.  My favorite product was the John Frieda Full Repair hydrate + nourish Deep conditioner.  I could tell in the shower after putting it on that my hair was different! I found that the deep conditioning made my hairstyle last and last!  When using the Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo and Conditioner , I found that the product gave my hair a swingy quality which is an aspect that I desire in my hair products.   The Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner, was perfect for when I wanted to use my hair straightner.  I avoided the “Frizziness” that can often accompany a straightened style for someone with a ton of blonde hair!

Halo Couture Hair Extensions Cost and Wearability for Women over 45

Can Women over 45 Wear Hair Extensions?

Take a Look at these Lovely Ladies both Women over 45 wearing Halo Couture Hair Extensions

Okay, Women over 45 can ROCK hair extensions but I don’t want to damage my hair!

I found a new product, which I have not used myself called Halo Couture Hair Extensions.  I would love to try them though and will do my best to get my PR maven to arrange it for me so I can feature a non-celebrity woman here.

According to the company, the Halo Couture Hair Extensions are made of 100% Remy human hair, achieve heavenly hair in seconds with a remarkable, easy to use no clip, no glue and no weaving extension line delivering rich fullness and length with NO damageWatch video below showing how to wear Halo Couture Extensions.

I am Worried they will Fall off my Head and look Silly on a Women over 45!

These hair extensions are removable and custom fit pieces using a miracle wire which sits about 1-3 inches behind your hairline with the back of the hair extensions sliding down just under the occipital bone. Once on, gently pull hair out and over the miracle wire. The weight of your hair lying on top of the halo, will keep it secure and in place. It is just that simple.  Halo Couture Hair Extensions, since they are made of  100% Remy human hair, can be colored, heat styled, and blended just like your natural hair.  See the pictures above to relieve your concerns about the look of hair extensions on Women over 45!

Okay, but I’ll bet I can’t find Halo Couture Hair Extensions in my area!

With Halo Couture hair Extensions, you can visit a certified stylist/salon in your area (they have them all over the U.S.) to get color matched, spend 10 minutes getting fitted and another 30 minutes or less to have the stylist blend your Halo Couture Extensions and you are set! No costly maintenance fees for touchups. And you can wear your extensions over and over with no damage.

All Right these Extension look Easy Enough but can I Afford Them?

Here are the  retail prices:

12 inch $300
16 inch $350
20 inch $460
24 inch $540
Salons may vary in the pricing!

How do these Halo Couture Hair Extensions Prices Compare to other Hair Extension Costs?

Compared to Halo Couture Hair Extensions,  hair extensions that are glued or woven into your hair vary depending on if you get synthetic or human hair and that can vary more depending on the quality. Halo Couture uses the highest grade human hair so it is just like your own. Extension products that use glue or weaving require you to initially sit in a chair for 7 hours and require a substantial investment, only to have to return every 4 months for maintenance which is also costly. With Halo Couture Extensions, you visit the stylist to get color matched, spend 10 minutes getting fitted and another 30 minutes or less to have the stylist blend your Halo Couture Extensions and you are set! No costly maintenance fees! And you can wear your extensions over and over. You buy one and you are set.

Michelle Obama Official Portrait 2013 features the “Mid-Life Crisis Bangs”

Michelle Obama has now confessed WHY she decided to get bangs in a February 19, 2013,  interview with Rachel Ray.  Michelle told Rachel:

“This is my mid-life crisis, the bangs. I couldn’t get a sports car. They won’t let me bungee jump. So instead, I cut my bangs!”

If you remember we blogged about Michelle’s new bangs in our post entitled Hairstyles for Women over 45: Michelle Obama Bangs, How Tos.  The bangs, which have taken on a life on their own appeared right before the Inauguration and her 49th birthday.

This 2013 Photo was released today, February 20, 2013, via official White House sources including via the White House Flicker and the @Flotus twitter feed.  I am quite sure that Michelle Obama will draw widespread praise and criticism as she usually does.  In 2009, the Michelle Obama Official Portrait  ”arm” picture drew criticism as some thought Michelle’s well toned arms were too prominently featured.

I posted this article today before critiques were out on the 2013 photo.  I personally like it very much.  I think it is understated, friendly, ladylike and modern.

What do you think of the 2013 photo?  Please comment below!

Styling Tips of Nicole Kidman’s Hair Shown above–TOP photo

For the 2013 SAG Awards, hairstylist David Babaii features Nicole Kidman’s  new solid bob haircut with a sleek, super straight look. Do you LOVE IT?  To fashion the look, David warmed a small amount of IT&LY’s Pure Water Drops in his  palms before applying. He then dried Nicole’s  hair with the hair dryer’s  nozzle attachment and a large round brush to smooth and straighten the hair completely. Control is a must, to achieve flawless straight hair. David sectioned her hair first: top, sides and back. To begin, he started by drying the nape area first and then proceeded until her entire head was dry. After creating a center part and to ensure sleek perfection, he finished the hair with IT&LY’s Racing Red Professional 1″ Digital Iron.

David Babaii also Styled Nicole Kidman for the Producer’s Guild Awards

Nicole Kidman 2013 Producers Guild Awards

Nicole Kidman (45)

At Saturday night’s Producer’s Guild Awards, Nicole Kidman’s hair sported a peek-a-boo bang and darling half up/half down hairstyle. David Babaii, Hairstylist, developed the look utilizing IT&LY HAIRFASHION’S eco-friendly and cruelty free Purity Design Line.

In styling the Nicole, he blow dried her hair with a mixture of IT&LY’s Pure Water Drops with Pure Fluid Experience. This combo gives hair a medium touchable hold w/ no build up + added shine. Using a medium round brush, David developed soft curls and a smooth rounded bang.  When finishing the style, he created a dramatic side part for the bang, sweeping the hair to one side. At the crown,  he lightly back combed the area and gently smoothed drawing the sides and top into a sexy poof at the back. The back and nape hair had soft curls using IT&LY’s Pure Water Drops to create style definition. To finish, David lightly misted the hair with IT&LY’s Pure Definition Hair Spray.

Controversy over Michele Obama Bangs: Real or not Real?

Hairstyles for Women over 45 — Bangs 101

Style icon Michelle Obama  appears to be celebrating her birthday by adding a blunt textured bang which comes right before inaugural festivities get under way.  So we got the opinion of George Gonzalez, who was chosen by Refinery29 as the ‘Best Bang Trim‘ in Chicago. George Gonzalez, celebrity stylist has  worked for Oprah and HARPO for 11 years.  Here are his “Best Bang Tips”

“Michelle Obama’s new bang is texturized which gives a softer piecey edge to the normal blunt style,” reveals George Gonzalez of George the salon Chicago. “To achieve, ask your stylist to chip in with the tips of their shears followed by using texturizing scissors to soften the initial cut to finish. Hair types that are very coarse, thick and curly will have a harder time pulling this look off unless you want to take the time to use a blow dryer and flat iron to style. Ideally, straight or slightly wavy strands that are fine to normal will work best for this new ‘Obama Bang’.”
