Posing and Rosacea don’t mix!
Face it! I am a life style blogger. I have to be ready to have my picture taken at the drop of a hat. If there’s a good shot…I am posing.
But…face it! I have rosacea. What is rosacea? It’s a chronic, inflammatory skin disease where sufferers may struggle with bumps, redness and pimples on their face. You can see why I want to cover this up right? It’s certainly not attractive at least not to me…
In fact, I take my concealer with me most everywhere I go. I am constantly checking my face and touching up, as needed.
Maybe I should stop covering up and deal with rosacea?
I finally decided I needed to go see my doctor about my rosacea and stop just covering up the problem with concealer.
Dr. Doris Day, board certified NYC Dermatologist and Galderma consultant has provided some lifestyle tips for dealing with rosacea.
- Catch up on your Zs-Yes, getting enough sleep can be rejuvenating and reinvigorating to your skin. (One of my issues…I never get enough sleep)
- Watch what you eat-Alcohol and sugary or processed foods should be avoided as possible. (Guess I better re-evaluate that nightly glass of red wine?)
- Track your triggers–
- The most common triggers include: sun, extreme temperature changes, spicy food, exercise and stress (exercise really makes my rosacea go nuts)
- Patients should also be aware that microscopic, typically harmless Demodex mites may also be a possible culprit (I believe these are a real issue for me)
- Choose your products wisely–
- Read ingredients and avoid potential irritants such as alcohol, fragrance and menthol
- Be gentle—harsh scrubs and astringent can irritate sensitive skin
- Look for mineral sunscreens with titanium oxide and moisturizers that are specifically developed for sensitive skin
See your Doctor-I highly recommend this step. Your doctor can recommend a great treatment plan for your diagnosis.

Galderma indicates you might see results in as little as 2 weeks. Cetaphil® Moisturizing Cream is the basis for Soolantra Cream and it’s fragrance-free, mild, non-irritating formula avoids common rosacea irritants.

I had this but it finally disappeared after menopause.

I can honestly admit also that I too bring my concealer with me everywhere I go. Mine may be for a different reason than yours though, I’m still dealing with acne at the age of 26 and I have really oily skin so my make up tends to wear off easily.

I have a friend who could really use this. Her ROSACEA is so embarrassing to her. Will have to send her this post.
