I think everyone should take this pledge. Even in states where this is illegal, I hear that it has not deterred may young people from still texting and driving. It’s so horrible. I hope the behavior changes or the technology can catch up to somehow block texting while the car is moving.

I don’t text OR email while driving. If it’s that important that it MUST be sent that second, I pull over and stop the car. My kids are my #1 priority, I will not endanger them!

I don’t need the statistics to know texting and driving is a bad idea- but it boggles my mind some people still find it harmless. The big key here it to not do it- AT ALL. Texting ‘at a red light’ leads to feeling comfortable with finishing that text as you begin to accelerate, and that leads to accidents, etc. It’s dangerous enough driving with other people on the road not paying attention, why limit your chances of responding by distracting yourself as well? A great campaign from Verizon!
