If you’re a seafood lover and an iPhone fan, it’s your lucky day. Monterey Bay Aquarium’s popular Monterey Bay Aquarium, including the sushi guide, are now available on your mobile phone to help you make sustainable seafood choices quickly and easily – whether you’re at your favorite restaurant or sushi joint, or shopping at your local market. The guides identify which fish are good options and which to think twice about because they’re overfished or contain contaminants like mercury.

This app will be especially useful in the New Year as sustainable seafood heats up more restaurant menus in 2010 and more people resolve to eat food that’s healthy and environment-friendly. Sustainable seafood has been listed as one of the top trends for 2010 according to the Nation’s Restaurant News’ Annual Chef Survey, the Food Channel, and hospitality and restaurant consultants who keep the pulse of the industry.
You can download to your Apple iPhone or iPod touch in one of two ways:
1. Visit us on our Seafood Watch pages to get your iPhone app.
2. Browse the App Store on your iPhone or iPod touch and download the free, official Seafood Watch app direct to your device.
Want some Sustainable Seafood Recipes? As you plan their holiday menus, some of them might be inspired by the Feast of Seven Fishes, an Italian American tradition of serving seven different seafood dishes on Christmas Eve.
